Mold and Mildew room

We stayed in room 522 and checked out a day early for the mold and mildew smell was overpowering. Behind nightstand was just dirty and dusty. Room needs to be remodeled and lots of TLC. Bathroom ceiling bubbled up from water damage. Toilet constantly runs. Shower no water pressure. The hotel need alot of TLC.
Stay somewhere else. One tower is under renovation and the one we were in should be as well.

There were a multitude of issues during our stay from security to room condition to “no heat in common areas”. In room: ceiling deteriorating and hanging, drawers not working, lamp outlets for plug-ins no working. Common areas: no heat, rusted vents. Potholes entering property. The room lock systems don’t work properly. (Doors don’t lock properly when exiting. We are seasoned Marriott customers and have never experienced conditions like this.

We stayed in October 2021 and I still cannot believe we paid $500 a night for the worst hotel stay we've ever had. I understand they are planning to upgrade the hotel -- that's great, and beyond necessary (maybe 20 years overdue), but they are charging rates as if that's already happened. I've stayed at nicer roadside motels. Check-in was extremely difficult, slow and staff was rude. When we got to the room, it was very musty. The carpeting was damp and water stained. The fixtures in the bathroom were rusted, and the tub wouldn't drain. The sheets were torn up and dirty. We were told housekeeping would not come (it's honestly unclear if they came in between guest stays). We could hear every sound coming from the neighboring rooms, so we hardly slept. Common areas like the hallways and elevators were dirty and damaged. There was absolutely nothing nice about the beach; the pool area was tired and dirty. Everything is SO outdated. I am Gold Elite Marriott Bonvoy (and got none of those benefits during my stay) and when I talked to management about this (after the front desk staff told me the manager did not have contact information and I'd have to go through Marriott corporate), they told me that I came back I would get a room upgrade. Hah! The best part about the stay was leaving.

What an absolute disappointment! Marriott should be ashamed to charge these rates and points for such a rundown, second rate hotel! Motel 6 would be an upgrade from this! As a loyal Gold Elite Marriott Bonvoy member, this terrible hotel has made me seriously consider switching my loyalty to another brand. Not only is it in dire need of repair, there is no accountability or sense of regret for the low quality they are delivering to guests while charging the rates of a level 5 property. This should be rated a 3 at best with lower rates and point adjustments until this property is vastly improved! It really put a damper on what was supposed to be a wonderful get-away. At the end of the day, you should look forward to returning to your hotel, but we totally dreaded it! Do yourself a favor and DO NOT choose this hotel. The negative reviews are no exaggeration! Shame on you Marriott! Your marketing strategy on the internet says as follows: "Part of what makes Marriott unique is their true interest in making a guest's experience — both on and off property — a memorable and fulfilling experience." It's been memorable alright....a disaster we wont soon forget! However, nowhere close to fulfilling! Time to change loyalty to the Hilton brand!

This property has an excellent location relative to the beach. Choose a ocean view if you can! We found the ancillary staff — doormen and gift shop in particular— to be very helpful and friendly. The first room they gave us had a horrible odor. We were supposed to get another king room, but they forgot to save us one and we ended up with two queens. Hotel is past overdue for updates!
