Good and not so good
Opinión escrita el 20 de Septiembre de 2021
On entering there will be a piece of paper with a number on to call. You will then be asked to press 2 bells to speak to someone onsite. Lady appeared and gave us our key to the Duchess suite. The room is very large, nice double bed (though the duvet was way too high a tog for the weather) and good view out of the bay windows. There is a very large bath with a mixer tap acting as a shower head. Breakfast is a bag with a BLT sandwich, porridge, a roll with butter and jam, fruit bowl, breakfast bar, yogurt and chocolate croissant, Lots of food but same BLT every day.

Stayed at this hotel recently after attending a wedding at Lyde Court.
The decor is outdated and could definitely do with a freshen up. I saw a few of the rooms due to booking the whole hotel for family and they were all of the same standard.
My room had steep steps upto the bathroom which had a sloping ceiling. I couldn’t really use the sink due to the ceiling as it was impossible to stand straight in front of it. I only noticed first thing in the morning that the shower was missing one of the doors. We were short on time due to having to be back at Lyde court so I didn’t have time to contact anyone. I assume they must know about the issue as it must have been removed at some point. I showered anyway and this flooded the bathroom making the floor very slippy and in particular the steps back down into the bedroom. Mid shower the water turned off for no apparent reason and then came back on a minute or so later.
This may have been lucky though as another family members room didn’t have a shower at all, only a bath.
The bed was very hard and not comfortable. There was also a coffee cup that was half full on the side… I assume from a previous guest or the cleaner.
As previously stated we had to leave early (8am) and reception was not manned when we did otherwise some of these issues would have been raised.
I didn’t see any staff at all during the stay. If it weren’t for attending the wedding and just needing a bed for the night, I would have cancelled and gone elsewhere.
Very disappointed with cleanliness and comfort.

The room and surrounding areas smelt quite stale, which wasn’t an ideal introduction to the place. The bed wasn’t comfortable with springs sticking into your back, all 4 white towels and bath mats had stains on them.
Lamp shades were completely wonky, something that although doesn’t make a difference to us as they still work, it’s not great to see that whoever cleans the rooms doesn’t pay much attention to the surroundings.
The TV remote didn’t work, meaning that we couldn’t turn the tv off or over.
The decor was slightly odd, however this is obviously down to someone else’s taste, just a shame that it’s fairly extreme so wouldn’t match many peoples expectations or taste.
Overall I think the hotel must survive on being in the vicinity to the wedding venue Lyde Court, which is why we were staying.

Stayed in this beautiful hotel just for one night. It used to be a wedding venue, now just B and B. Our room was huge, lovely bay window, four poster bed with the softest mattress. Large bathroom with huge bath. Would definitely stay again. I can imagine it would have been a perfect wedding venue .
Be careful what your offered or ask for.

Last week whilst travelling down to the county for business our booked hotel cancelled on us so we researched the net and found Munstone House. Requesting bed and breakfast we were offered a double executive suite at no reduced rate. On arrival, what a nice looking building, couldn't wait to get to our room, Felt like we were on a "Scooby Do" mystery, no sign of life and had to ring TWO door bells beside each other to summon someone. HOWEVER the owner met us in the foyer only to take us away from the building to a room located in a separate building underneath where they hold their wedding events.

For those who remember Austin Powers, the room looked like a scene from the film "The Spy Who S****** Me. Not a prude by any means but we just expected a room similar to the main building, clean simple double bed, ensuite.
"The Francis Suite Room 8"
Dodgy door lock, clear glass entrance door from outside straight into bedroom, had to keep curtains closed all the time.
All the walls were covered in slightly mirrored glass, mmm ONE WAY GLASS?. Just in case had to improvise including covering mirrors with blankets.
Bed was a standard double bed surrounded with fake leather semi-circled padded pieces making the bed a massive circular bed, but the pads were not secure. Getting on and off the bed was like being on the series "Total Wipeout".
No bedside lamp, but a massive arched floor lamp "Groovy".
Dust was on most surfaces.
Some electric sockets didn't work.
The tea pot had built up tea stains in it.
Bathroom had a weird standalone sink unit with no space for soap or toothbrush, looked more like an up cycled font from a church.
Two ply toilet tissue that was like glass paper.
The breakfast bag, sandwich, yogurt, a pastry, jam, butter, orange juice.
Checking out spoke with the elderly owner and gave my feedback, may as well have told the wall. She needs help with the business or jack it in, will not be returning anytime soon.
