We had a wonderful visit! It was also lucky that, in a month of mediocre weather, we hit upon three days of great weather. The view from our suite was spectacular. The only thing that kept this review from being five stars was the seemingly lack of staff. One example is that it took 35 minutes to get a pot of coffee delivered to the room. I know … third world problems and all, but when you pay as much as you do for a suite, you expect a bit better service. However, we are coming off a pandemic, and it was sort of the off season. Other than slow service at times, I do really recommend a visit!

This was our 2nd time staying at this hotel. Loved the hotel, the decor, the historic cool vibe. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Strolling the nicely landscaped, well-maintained grounds. The restaurant once again presented outstanding menu choices and the salmon-stuffed sole was amazing!

Location is great, and it was pretty quiet in the room (it was not a high season though and Sunday night, so not many people anyway). Other than that the hotel is overrated, even for 3 stars. Looking good outside - shabby inside. The cleanliness rating on Booking is 9, but it's way too high. The lobby's glass table was in prints and stains all over. In the room, when I reached out to turn on the lamp by the bed, it was all dirty and dusty. The window was not clean either. The restaurant was a disaster. I triple-checked about gluten free options at the time of booking, because it is critical, and they confirmed it. I then checked again when checking in, and the reception lady confiemed it. When we came to the restaurant, guess what? They said they had no gluten free meal. When I said it had been confirmed, they went to check (3 times!) And finally announced, they have ONE gf meal to choose from. Gf pasta. It was supposed to be my birthday dinner by the way, and it was ruined. The food was not good at all, and was way overpriced. Lastly, communications. They are just poor. Hospitality should not be just a word. The industry is called so for a reason. One example: we reserved the table at the restaurant when checking in and for some reason, the reception lady made a reservation for 2 and not for 3 although she was checking us in and knew how many people in the family. When we entred the restaurant, the guy there made a big deal that it's 3 and not 2 people ( I should have taken it as a red flag!) They had empty tables, and it was not our mistake whatsoever so what the hell? I mentioned it was my birthday and asked for a table by the window - they completely ignored my ask, and even no decent 'happy birthday' was said! No smiles, no welcoming attitude anywhere there. 2 stars for the room and 0 for the service is what would be fair for the hotel. Won't be coming back, obviously.

We’ve been here before. The setting and views are wonderful. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The food was very good. The room was not as clean as I would have expected and amenities have definitely been cut back. (Cheap liquid gels in the shower.) Our bathroom had mold and mildew all over the ceiling. We paid quite a bit for a family suite. I think someone could go in once a month to clean the “grunge.” Still, the hotel is historic and worth a visit. For the price we pay, it should be clean.

Beautiful step back in time with the comfort of now! Meal at the restaurant was wonderful!! Room had view of the beautiful gardens. Gorge was gorgeous. Even in less than ideal weather this hotel was a dream come true.
