Better than Hobbiton
An amazing place.. If you ever plan to go to Hobbiton in New Zealand.. dont do it!! I have been there and this camping place is so much better and cheaper! The stuff is nice and friendly, everything is clean and well equipped. If you do the Skåneleden rest here.. if you are lucky the bus driver gives you a free ride as well :)
Unique hostel in a cave
If you're looking for a unique budget option in Sweden then step forwards Grottbyn. Based on a caravan park right next to a wildlife park Grottbyn is a selection of regular hostel rooms inside little caves. Yes I really did say caves! I stayed in a single room (one bunk bed so works for 2 people) and it cost me about £30 per night. For Sweden this is really good value. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere - but a very beautiful nowhere. Ideal if you have a car and are touring but there's is a substantial train station in Hoor and buses run to right outside the wildlife park pretty frequently from what I could tell. The rooms themselves are clean and extremely basic. Aside from my bed I had a fold down table, a fold up chair and some hooks on the wall. But the bed was comfortable (you can't sit upright in the lower bunk - and I'm short) and had a decent reading light. As with most accommodation in Sweden you need to provide your own bedding and towels (although I think you could rent this at an extra price). All the rooms run off a corridor which also houses the shared bathrooms - again basic but fine. In our little cave there were just 3 or 4 bedrooms and I presume some of those were larger. There are about 3 little caves - all joined together. Then there is the shared area which has a large kitchen, a storeroom with fridge for cave dwellers, more toilets and showers (and even a coin operated sauna) and lastly there's a large dining room with TV area. There are plenty of lovely areas to explore within driving distance of Hoor and it served as an excellent base for the 5 days I stayed there. Being a caravan park also there is a small shop selling a few items and ice creams and the owners were always extremely helpful, friendly and a great advert for Sweden as a whole. If you're on a budget, like somewhere a bit more chilled and relaxed or fancy spending some time hiking this is the perfect location for you. If you want a modicum of luxury then this is not the cave for you!
Bra med närhet till djurpark.
Fin omgivning och nära till Skånes djurpark om man har ett planerat besök där. Men långt till närmaste badställe (om man inte vill bada i den lilla poolen då) 2.1 km bitvis mycket smal Stig i skogen. Inget för barnen att gå. Vi hade absolut tagit bilen dit OM vi vetat det. Sjön på plats är alltså inte badvänlig. Tyvärr. Ungarna var lite ledsna ena dagen då dom tömde luften ur de små hoppborgarna typ klockan 15. Trevlig personal.
Husvagns weekend
Bra camping, liten och mysig. Finns grillplats. Bra duschar o toa. Finna även en stor lokal där man kunde sitta och äta eller bara umgås. Stort kök där man kan laga mat och diska. Lugn och skön camping.
