I'm completely ok with outdated hotel rooms, but unclean rooms I am not ok with. • Dirty sheets • Dark hairs all over the bathtub (i have light-colored hair) • Front door was sticky but closed but didn't seem to close, there was light coming in, not real safe feeling (see photo) • Bathroom door would not close unless you body slammed it • One bedside lamp had no lightbulb • Air condition worked well but it was covered in dust. It took me like 15 seconds to wipe it clean.
I mean...
This place would be a step above decent if they paid more attention to cleaning and replaced the broken, outdated furniture and upgraded the doors and some construction issues. Chairs were stained, room walls were dirty in spots, hair all over the bathroom. The door to my room had daylight coming in all around. A/c unit smelled like dirty feet when ran. Tub surround was cracked and siliconed over the cracks. It's got a great location and potential to be excellent if the details were shined up. The bed at least was super comfortable.
Bank card fraud
Paid for room through booking.com February 3. Checked in Feb 8. Female desk clerk checked us in and we go to room to unpack, keycards work, and then go out to eat. We return 2 hours later after eating keycards dont work. We go down to lobby and a male clerk states in order to activate keycard he needs bank card to prove who we are. We return to room and finally get in and my wife says I had better check our account. I check account and male desk clerk had charged card. I go back down to lobby and female desk clerk is there. I start to explain to her male desk clerk charged my card then male desk clerk hearing me rushes out of back room pushing female desk clerk out of way yelling at me repeatedly " there's no problem ". He prints off and hands me some phony receipt saying no problem. Card charged Feb 10. Double charged scam. Want my money back
Nice stay-- clean and comfortable.
We stayed here to join friends for a fun weekend from Denver. They got a cabin, but we were too late in reserving (literally the day before) to get our own, so we just got a regular hotel room upstairs. Having seen the cabin, we wish we'd gotten one, though it would have been overkill for just two of us for a night. Really nice and clean, smelled like wood, like a cabin should; it was really cool. But back to our regular hotel room, it was just that-- a regular room, like thousands we've stayed in. The beds were new-ish, the HVAC unit was new (and therefore quiet), the flat-screen actually seemed to have HD svc to it, unlike so many places, etc etc... but here's the bottom line-- the room was clean and everything worked, and the rate, with AARP, was 55 bucks. The pillows weren't the cushiest in the world, but the mattress was comfortable. The pool had a tiny bit of moss on the bottom in one corner, but it was clean and refreshing. The breakfast was decent. Our friends took off the next day, but we decided we liked the town enough to check it out, so, even though we had checked out of this place already, we called them back and requested to move right back into the same room. Like every other interaction with the staff, they were very friendly and accommodating. We'll try for a cabin if we stay in Hot Springs again, but we liked the the rooms just fine.
Choose a cabin stay
Found this by looking online after driving down from Mr. Rushmore. Management was willing to work with us on the price of a cabin. Just missed the Sturgis rush and were very glad of it. Comfortable cabin with everything you would need for a nights stay. Breakfast room was a little crowded
