More about the hotel
Hard, cold rooms
Decor of the rooms could not be more cold and unwelcoming: the hardwood floors, lack of art on the walls, harsh lighting (they clearly put the wrong bulbs in the lamps, which made them feel insane-asylum cold, needed to be warm yellow but was cold white), plus uncomfortably hard / firm bed. All in all this is probably the worst hotel room I've ever stayed in at in this class of hotel. They really need to bring in an interior decorator to help things out. There was a super harsh overpowering smell of chemicals in the hall ways. The service in the restaurant was unnecessarily slow (only 3 occupied tables including me, and everything took forever). The location is terrible, you can't get anywhere, not even a convenience store without a car. If a hotel is remote like this, they should provide a shuttle. There are better options nearby, for sure. 2 stars because the front desk staff was nice and gym was decent.
Pleasant Surprise!
After a chaotic travel day (long story short - cancelled flight which had me overnight in Houston for an unexpected “layover”) this place was exactly what I needed to relax. I am a Marriott Elite Gold member, and chose this location in a bit of a panic because I needed to Uber to something close to the airport. The minute I walked in (not in the best of moods, I might add) Esli calmed me right down. She made sure I had a quiet room, and took extra care to make sure that nothing else in my travel day could potentially go awry. While I could go on for hours about Esli, I will simply let you experience it for yourself, and will tell others about the unexpected amenities at this location. 1) A nicely stocked pantry - both Panna and Voss waters available (with Fiji offered in the room); Starbucks mini coffees; Pure Leaf teas; and an ample amount of carbs available that I unfortunately haven’t been allowed to eat since the mid 90’s. 2) complimentary breakfast in the morning (also something I can never utilize, but people looked happy with it). 3) complimentary shuttle to airport, every hour on the hour (yet another Uber trip cost I was able to save on). 4) they have those double shades you can pull, one to keep out all of the light, and one with just a haze, where you can still enjoy the sunset... I love those! Side note: I had to have multiple items delivered to me during my first two hours after checkin (food, deodorant, a new wardrobe - you know, the usual), and Esli made sure they all made it to my room quickly and efficiently. Because I was not leaving it for any reason at that point. Oh, and the beds... so comfortable. As a regular traveler, and frequent Marriott customer, I will say that this hotel has been the most pleasant unexpected surprise I have encountered this year. Thank you, Four Points...
Lovely Hotel
I always stay here every time I visit Houston. This is very accessible to the company where I work, plus hotel provide a shuttle within 5 miles from the hotel. Bed, pillows are soft which give me a good night sleep always. Staff are very helpful and accommodating. Internet connection is fast, though it sometimes slows down inside the bedroom. Breakfast has a good variety. Laundry is free in the laundry room. Just a very small comment though, one time I asked the staff if there’s laundry available and she said no. But the next day, I asked another staff and he guided me that there’s a laundry area which is free pf use. Also, I think staff should listen carefully to the guest when being requested for a pick up. I waited for an hour waiting for the shuttle to arrive. Other than that, I will still stay in this hotel should I return to Houston.
Good value
A modern clean room, 15 minutes from the airport. Really Comfortable king bed. No bathtub though, which is a minus. Good deal on Hotwire. It was a lot cheaper than other hotels. There shuttle starts at 5am and unfortunately our flight left too early to use it. A $25 taxi ride.
Very friendly staff
This hotel is only 10 -15 minutes away from IAH airport. You can call the hotel shuttle and they'll pick you up within the next half an hour. Front desk manager was very friendly and helpful during checking in. The rooms offer all you need with a big flat screen and the shower is nice and big. The cleaning could be better. The body lotion was already empty from the previous guest and never got replaced during my 3 nights stay. There is also a nice indoor pool and fitness room. However, I think some policy needs to be put in place. Some kids ran dripping wet, only covered in their swim suit and bare foot through the hall way and jumped like that into the elevator leaving the floor in the elevator very wet as well. Not very hygienic and unsafe! There is a nice bar with several local beers on tap. As it was our first visit to Houston, the bar tender offered us samplers for tasting; very well appreciated. In the same area, they have a restaurant with limited menu. It wasn't a problem to share the crab cakes as a starter. We can recommend them very well as they are yummy. The service is friendly but rather slow. Main reason is that the bar tender also needs to take care of the restaurant. The breakfast is not complimentary and also rather limited. All in all, this is a nice hotel to stay, but some improvement is needed to receive a 5 star review.....
