Tale of Horrors! Stay off the computers & bring your own cleaner
1. Checked into one room and it smelled like cigar smoke and marijuana. 2. Moved to Second room where there was long strands of black hair on the toilet seat, sink, floors, and bathtub. I requested the front desk supervisor to come take a look. 3. We moved to a third room that was mediocre but tolerable due to her sincerity and service. 4. My husband logged onto the business center computer due to the WiFi being spotty. Upon opening his ICloud a small window popped up stating “remote takeover was in progress.” This was alarming due my husband iCloud having access to several clients confidential information. 5. Upon calling the third party company that was monitoring the computer they said they had not had access to that computer since February so they didn’t know who was monitoring that computer. In addition, the agent said that their names are always on display when they access a computer remotely. This was alarming due to there being no way for us to know who was spying on us... furthermore, other guest credit card information and so forth. Datto stated this technology should never be on a public computer in a hotel and we should let their tech support know immediately. 6. My husband spoke to Julius and the General Manager who callously discarded our experience during our stay. The GM reluctantly gave us partial of our points back we used to pay for our stay and aggressively asked my husband “when was he leaving?” My husband said 4pm which he had let the front desk know upon checking in. The GM grumbled “ it’s within my right to ask because it’s not listed.” We were treated unfairly and poorly by the general manager and Julius. Cleanliness of rooms and guest safety and privacy shouldn’t be compromised. As you Tripsters can see: In the best room they had for us the toilet knob was completely detached, the pop up from the spyware on their computer, strings of hair on the housekeeping dank sponges, and the extreamly limited cleaning supplies they are using- which is horrific given the coronavirus epidemic.
So Awful It’s Not Really a Residence Inn
First of all, the staff was helpful, professional, and accommodating. However, this hotel was far below the standards of a Marriott Residence Inn. We rented 2 rooms for 2 days, with 2 adults and one child in each room. Building 8, where we stayed, was tatty at best: nothing was above average and much was below average. Both pull-out couch beds in our rooms were dirty. One with hair on the mattress; the other with trash on the mattress. In both rooms, the springs in the pullout mattresses protruded so much neither child could sleep on them. The carpets may have been prehistoric. The artwork on the walls in both rooms was falling apart (see photo). It is a business crime this facility is so bad. The location is excellent. With some investment, the hotel would seem to be a roaring success. My recommendation is don’t stay here until the facility is renovated.
Going Downhill
We have stayed at this property when coming to Houston for 6 years. The last two visits (December and January) have been disappointing to say the least. Housekeeping is inconsistent, from not cleaning at all, to partial cleaning. Shining light are the ladies during the free breakfast-super nice and so friendly. Property is starting to show it’s age. Usually quiet. Walking distance to Galleria, Water Wall, restaurants.
Averagw
This place is very average and not what we expected while staying on business. We didn’t realize doors to leave apartments lead you to the outside when researching hotel so at times, it is a little louder. The beds are hard on the back. Toiletries in room are minimal. Staff is friendly and clean. I will say I was not happy to find my room was cleaned after I put the sign on my door knob that we were okay.
Low end motel
Other than a friendly staff, I was really disappointed in the caliber of this property. On a side street behind gates, the rooms are spread out across multiple 3-story buildings with exterior room entrances. I did not feel safe, elevators are tucked in corners, facility smelled, and I would not recommend staying here.
