Huddersfield Visit

Reviewed 15 november, 2021

I arrived for a 1 Night stay at this Pub / Bed & Breakfast establishment was welcomed on arrival , confirmed my booking and was shown to my room , I decided to have a quick shower and change to go to meet friends , during my shower the Fire Alarm went off very loudly , caused by the steam from the bathroom due to having no windows and the extraction fan unable to clear the steam. A member of staff came to check I was safe which was nice, unfortunately for me the bed was very low and I struggled to get out of it, only other downside for me is the External Staircase which guests use when the Pub is closed , other small problem was that the Internet kept dropping the signal. All things considered still very good value for money in my opinion.

Stayed here for two nights (£120) as my friend was have their wedding party at nearby Manor House, who wanted £200 a night for a room !! On arrival parking to the rear, although be careful to park within the confines of the pub parking (yellow lines), otherwise you could get a ticket from the business next door. Friendly welcome from a gent called Kieran showed to Room 2. Basic facilities but homely and shower worked well for the older type. Not much noise from the pub although there was a constant water pipe noise, which could have been disturbing if you were a light sleeper. Wifi seemed to be fine, but I got 5G off my phone, so used mobile hotspot. Had breakfast on the Saturday which was plentiful and friendly for around £8. A pretty good place to stay for stopover for a fair price.

Great for an overnight stay

We stayed for just one night on our way from Devon to Bradford in Yorkshire. We received a typical very friendly Yorkshire welcome and the room was excellent with all the facilities you could ask for. We would certainly recommend and will certainly use again.

Cheerful, good value, dog-friendly

We chose the Croppers Arms because there aren't that many attractive places in the area that welcome dogs in both the rooms and dining area. We weren't disappointed. No dubious glances at our mutts, just a reasonable £10 fee per dog. (Happy to report they were well-behaved.) The rooms are basic but clean and pleasant. I've seen other reviews commenting on the street noise, but I can honestly say that was not an issue for us. The pub wasn't serving food during our visit, but the menu looked interesting and the drinks were just fine. There's also a bonus for dog people: beautiful Greenhead Park is just 5 minutes walk.
