Pleasant place to have a glass of wine outdoors
We were walking past and needed to a place to take a rest. The outdoor seating was very inviting, and we enjoyed our short visit before continuing on our way. We did not actually stay at the hotel. It's near some nice walking trails in the french countryside.
Appalling lack of consideration
My partner and I were due to stay here while we attended our friends’ wedding. Unfortunately my mother was admitted to hospital and is expected to pass away within the next few days. I made the admittedly non-refundable reservation back in February but when I realised we weren’t going to make it I emailed the hotel to ask if there was, under these extreme circumstances, any chance of me being refunded. After two days I still had received no reply so I emailed again. This was the response (translated from French): I'm sorry for this bad news unfortunately the reservation that you have made is neither cancelable nor modifiable so I can not make exceptions. I'm sorry I did not meet your expectations and wish you a good day. You can imagine how frustrating it is to receive such a reply. I also contacted EasyJet, the non-refund airline. They have been excellent so far and have agreed to refund the cost of the flights. Why then is it not possible for a small provincial hotel to show some compassion and not do the same? I find it infuriating and baffling.
Delightful hotel
Charming. Good room, not large but plenty big enough for a comfortable short stay. Pleasant garden where we could sit chatting with friends over a drink. Hotel adorned with fun array of knick knacks. Very good traditional French breakfast. No evening meal but good restaurant nearby. Located in a peaceful village and a great jumping off point for walks in the beautiful unspoilt Chevreuse regional park. Very obliging owners – we didn’t appreciate that there would be no taxis at the local railway station in the middle of the day so Madame kindly came to fetch us in her car. Excellent value for money.
A one night stop
A one night stay before flying home from CDG. Arrived late(ish) and the host was very helpful and accommodating. Room very well furnished with a very comfortable bed, a very good nights sleep was welcome as we had had a hectic day, flew in to Paris that day and were flying out the next. The breakfast was plentiful, varied and very tasty. Excellent choice if your are a non meat eater, cheeses, pastries cereals, yogurts etc etc. good value at 11.50 euros Quite expensive however worth it for the excellent nights sleep, very quiet. Would definitely stay again.
Mauvaise surprise/bad surprise!
Je ne peux pas donner un avis concernant un séjour a cet hotel. J'ai réservé par booking.com mais quand je suis arrivée ma réservation n'était pas affichée sur le planning de l'hôtel. J'ai montré ma réservation par booking.com a la propriétaire et elle a regardé ses emails pour voir si elle l'a reçue. Si, elle l'a reçue MAIS les intermédiaires de réservation (booking.com etc) remplissent son planning directement donc elle ne regarde pas ses emails. Je ne sais pas si c'est la faute de booking.com ou de la propriétaire mais il y à un problème avec le système. En plus, elle m'a dit que la même chose est arrivée avec un autre client plus tôt ce jour-la. Elle l'a envoyé dans un autre hotel et elle a fait la même chose pour moi. Mauvaise surprise car ça n'a pas été le genre d'hôtel que j'ai voulu réserver et ça a ajouté encore un voyage à ma journée déjà très longue (plus je suis enceinte!). La propriétaire n'était pas méchante mais n'était pas très commerçante non plus. J'ai eu que "je suis très confuse". Donc, faites très attention quand vous réservez dans cet hotel de vérifier qu'ils ont bien noté votre réservation. I can't write a review of a stay in this hotel as I will now explain. I booked a room through booking.com but when I arrived at the hotel my reservation wasn't displayed on the hotel reservations list on the computer. I showed the hotel owner the confirmation of my booking from booking.com and she then looked at her emails to see if she had received an email confirmation. It turned out that she had received an email but that she doesn't look at her emails as companies like booking.com fill in her reservations page directly online. I don't know whether it was booking.com's fault or the owner's but there is clearly a technical problem. She told me that the same thing had happened to another client who arrived earlier in the day. She sent him to another hotel and she did the same for me. I was very disappointed and frustrated though as the new hotel was not the kind of hotel that I had wanted to reserve and it added another journey to my already long day of journeys (and I'm pregnant!). The owner wasn't horrible but wasn't apologetic either and didn't make a commercial gesture. The most that I got out of her was "I'm very confused!". Be warned; if you book a room in this hotel make sure you verify that they've received and added your reservation to their bookings database otherwise you could be in for a nasty surprise.
