Terrible

So many things went wrong when I stayed there that I don't even want to write about it. The only positive thing is the location next to the airport, but I ll never go back for sure. Unfriendly staff, broken air conditioning, swimming pool out of order without prior advice, expensive in comparison to other surrounding hotels, etc...

Hotel needs maintenance

Reviewed 29 june, 2016

We stayed at the hotel for one night. We booked a room with a balcony via Hotels.com, but we received a really bad and dark room without a balcony. The room was very old and needed maintenance. The toilet broke down, so it could not flush. We asked at the reception to please fix this, but after two hours they have not even come to the room to look at the problem. Hopefully we managed to fix our self. The breakfast is below average. The Hotel may be all right for just a quick over night stay, but not for more than one day.

Needs badly an upgrade and maintenance

Reviewed 19 march, 2016

The room was ok, old, and badly maintained. The bathroom the same, it was almost like the hotel was built and never maintained. It was clean though. Bad space for parking (needed to park on the deck in front of the beach bar). There was no beah chairs available. The beach in front of the hotel was littered with trash, even though the municipe didnt clean, the hotel can take responsibility and make it more pleasant for their guests. The breakfast left much to be desired, It was not very good at all, lacked diversity and the bread was hard and old. I will never stay at Opaba agian and rather look for other hotels and/or places to take my vacation, we left after 1 day even though having plans for staying for 5 nights initially.

Excellent for the area

We just finished staying 6 nights at Opaba. I would highly recommend it. At first, we were leery based on some other negative recent reviews. We made a reservation elsewhere and regretted it! We switched to Opaba where the staff were unbelievable friendly, the food is delicious, and the rooms comfortable. The rooms aren't fancy but the air conditioning works well and the beds are comfortable. Don't let the photos fool you into thinking that the beds are all warped and uncomfortable. That's just the photo. The lobby is nice and has nice breezes as they often have their many windows open. The restaurant is open for 3 meals a day and breakfast is included and it's quite a spread of food. They are not chintzy with the food. Yes, the airport is right next to it, but there are very few flights per day and it is simply a very brief moment of noise when a plane takes off. It's literally no big deal. We had no problems with not having running water in the rooms and no problems with construction noise. So on those other reviews, perhaps that issue is solved. It's not luxurious by American standards, but it is quite nice and I would jump at the opportunity to stay there again. The beach is magnificently beautiful! And I can't say enough good things about the wonderfully friendly staff. It was a terrific stay.

i was very comfortable there its more country compare to to rio but i was relaxed, fit right in with the locals and loved the food especially that corn porriage, awsome and quess what the airport is next door, We step out the airport right into the town and i mean next door. The tour guides took us to fun places the water was kinda cold though was not summer there. I am looking forward to going back soon its best to go with a group of people more fun that way. One of my girlfriends had a serious eye problem, contac issues girl was going blind and the hotel sent us to an eye doctor in the town Dr. Sampaio he was the greatest, he saved her eyes. Nice friendly people, nice clean rooms and the beach is behind the hotel unbelievable. I need to learn to speak portugese though i did alot of sign languages lol, but they spoke english.
