I lasted an hour here until I walked out. Absolutely Trash.
Buckle up for this hot mess.I booked online a 1 King bedroom suite, from pictures and the description of the room, i booked and agreed to pay the price of a suite. I wanted to treat myself to a better room. No harm in that, right?I had a lot of stuff with me and when I walked in the lady behind the front desk was Blonde, middle aged, seemed irritated and was not wearing a mask. She barely tried covering her face. If management is reading this, I encourage you to check your security cameras from front desk around 2:25-3:00, and you’ll see what i mean. She handed me my key and i went to my first room. I walked in, it was just a King. No sofa, no suite anything. So, she gave me a room that would cost me less but paying a suite price. I called and doubled checked, and said that I booked a suite and if there was any confusion, to where she replied “ WE DONT HAVE ANY SUITES AVAILABLE.” To I reply “ I was able to book one online, and that it was never communicated to me through my reservation that there was none available.” So..... You just put me in any room that required the least amount of effort on your end just to be done with the check in? Ok, cool, my fault, right?I go back to the desk for a second time and she was like “ actually i’m glad you came back because your card actually declined.” She said it so proudly like she wanted me to feel crappy. Until i showed her my booking confirmation and the fact it said paid in full... then she miraculously changed her tone to “ oh it actually said the balance is $0 so it was paid for I guess.”... handed me new keys and didn’t even mention the whole fit of her saying “ we don’t have suites available” that she just told me minutes prior over the phone. I go on to round 2 of going to a new room. She puts me in a Handicap Assessable King room. So, it’s just a bigger version of a King. I personally don’t feel comfortable taking those rooms just in case someone in need actually needed it. It’s also AGAIN not what I agreed to pay for. So, i call again to explain, and she just goes “ Well i don’t even do front desk, I am just covering someone’s shift, okay!” Like that’s my problem? She said “ Let me get a front desk person to deal with this and we will call you back in a few minutes.” I worked in hotels for 8 years. 3pm was approaching which I know that’s. shift change. She was waiting for her shift to end to pass it off to someone else so she didn’t have to handle this situation any longer. of course 2:58, she calls and just says “ okay your keys are ready bye”. Rude. I go down, and as I expected she’s gone, and a new person is at the front desk. Of course nothing was communicated from shift to shift, that would make too much sense? So the new front desk guy seemed lost, I explained everything. He puts me in the correct room (102). When I walked in I was like thank god... Until... The main light was out and then I opened the fridge... I have had it. I called front desk YET AGAIN. Explained everything and I just said screw it i can’t stay here, and I need a full refund. The guy at front desk said “ okay i’ll check you out.” This is so embarrassing. I didn’t get one apology, sorry for the inconvenience, nothing. I asked for the gm card, and said i have to wait a few days for my full refund. I showed him the picture of what was in the fridge which i will link below as well. This was embarrassingly bad, and I 100% Guarantee you the lady didn’t even record what 3 rooms i entered, and they are just going to be left for the next person to check in not knowing someone was in there even briefly. Especially during covid, your cleanliness standards are horrendous.
Nice
A quiet hotel in St Charles, IL. The pool was open but not the hot tub. The room was clean and fresh. The bathtub was deep (I liked it!); however, I had trouble turning off the water so it dripped (I did notify the front desk upon my departure). The restaurant offered a limited menu for breakfast but it was very satisfying (eggs, choice of bacon or sausage, choice of fruit or potatoes and a beverage).
Great service
The hotel was nice and clean and one young man at the front desk, Trent, was super courteous and helpful. Rooms were nice and this location is great too. We enjoyed our stay very much and will come back if in the area.
A Great Place to Stay
The hotel is beautiful and the staff are a pleasure to work with! From the time we arrived we were greeting with a smile. The fireplaces were going and there was fruit flavored water and coffee in the lobby. Everything was great
First rate
This is a clean, spacious, accommodating property. The rooms, beds, and pillows are comfy; there's a big, inviting pool; the breakfasts are fulsome and well prepared; parking is plentiful and close to the door; instead of annoying rock music of some disconnected service, there's very quiet and subtle background music (though none would be better; TVs in the lobby are barely audible at breakfast (the way they should be), and this is well located if you're on (and hopefully can stay) on the west side of Chicago. The only downside — the usual idiotic pizza-wedge luggage carts that hold little, require several trips to unload, and unceremoniously dump small parcels out the bottom and the sides. The idiot Hilton middle manager who mandated these contraptions has probably retired with a bonus by now, and we travelers with lots of luggage are stuck with his legacy. Otherwise — this is a fine, well-run place.
