Wonderful place
A wonderful staff welcomed us for our one night in Imola. Our room was clean and nicely appointed We were traveling with our little dog and she was welcomed as well with her own bowls! We’d highly recommend The Hotel Donatello for a stay of any length while in Imola
Disappointed
The Donatello has a 4 star rating and after reading numerous reviews about this hotel I was looking forward to my stay as most were positive. Starting with the good points, the room was large, clean and the bed comfortable. Parking is free, but for me it ends there. The premises is located in a housing estate but that is not detrimental as I am sure space in Imola is at a premium. My first impression upon arrival was what you would expect from a family run bed & breakfast on a larger scale. The staff on reception were dressed in everyday cloths, jeans and jumper, no uniformity. Admittedly they quickly found my reservation and the room key was readily available, although we were offered only one. The explanation of facilities was basic around the time of breakfast. I would have expected more about the wellness facilities as this is one of the main selling points in the hotels description. As said the room, on the 9th floor, was large. The hotel was apparently refurbished in 2006 and the furniture in the room reflected this and actually didn't match. The tea/coffee area was aweful. I have never been in a 4 star hotel that puts out cardboard 'cups' and wooden sticks as stirrers. There was only enough coffee to make one cup each and the suger options was white only (personally I use a sweetener). The bathroom was clean but disappointing. Continued..........
Good value for money
The hotel looks extremely unappealing from the outside but is much more accommodating once you get inside. The room is basic but the view (beyond the high rise flats) is amazing. They claim to have a panoramic bar but this is misleading as you can only see half the city from it. Breakfast was good with a selection of hot and cold food available but nothing amazing. Not sure where the pool was that they also advertise on their website - there was no signs for this in the hotel. The hotel is in a predominantly residential area so not many shops/restaurants nearby but we ventured out and found a nearby independent restaurant which was great. There is free parking onsite but it is not secure. We stayed here to visit the nearby Imola Circuit.

Large 7th floor room with a balcony and views over Imola. Very good easy free parking. Reception and check in staff were very good. Good dinner in their restaurant and pretty good breakfast especially if you like sweet cakes and croissants.
Best in Imola area
Strongly suggest for best stay in Imola area : try also the internal restaurant and if you have some time to spend, visit also the private gym in top of tower, you will have total panoramic view of Imola
