Holiday Inn Express & Suites Fort Wayne

Overall, not a horrible stay, but many annoyances, one health issue and one security issue. We own a e-commerce business, travel frequently, and are used to dealing with an issue here or there, but this was excessive. We do utilize Priceline quite a bit, so we are also used to getting the occasional "third party booking" rooms. Annoyances: No towel bar in bathroom even REMOTELY near the shower. No toilet paper holder; it was just sitting on the counter. The bathroom floor was NOT clean; looked like dirty mop was used on it, with dark streaks(wiped a damp piece of tp across it...yuck). Only one bar of soap, when we always see one for the sink and one for the tub. The refrigerator would slide across the tile floor when trying to open the door(watch your toes). The light above the sofa would not turn on; upon further inspection, the bulbs have two twist-in nodes, but the fit was so loose that just bumping the fixture would loosen them and shut the light off(see photo of plastic on floor to access light bulbs). If these fixtures are in every room, then they're all a problem. Ugh. The microwave was unplugged(not a big deal, but c'mon). Indiana is under a mask mandate. VERY few people were wearing them, INCLUDING the young lady who checked us in. She was very polite, though. The biggest issue we encountered was the non-functioning deadbolt lock; it wouldn't line up due to the door being hung incorrectly and/or damaged(see photo taken in the dark to see light shining through where the door is hung at an angle). Trash and soiled bedding in the hallway leading to our room. Why you would just leave it there is puzzling; it was there for a couple of hours, at least.

We were expecting an excellent stay based on the reviews, but I was disappointed on what we found upon arriving at the hotel—garbage cans overflowing outside and in the lobby and litter and crumbs all along the third floor hallway. Our room appeared to have been recently remodeled and smelled of bleach, which is oddly comforting in the midst of a pandemic. Some of the remodeling seemed to lack thoughtful design. Where one would expect a toilet paper holder, we found an oddly placed towel bar. When we wanted to call the front desk to ask where to find a light switch for over-the-bed lighting, we found a phone but no cord. The staff told us that many guests have trouble figuring out how to turn off that light—seems like a design flaw. The breakfast was adequate given COVID restrictions, but the bananas looked several days old.

We stayed here on April 21, 2020 due to a needed surgery at Ft Wayne Orthopedic Hospital. Jill, the Area General Manger, was very helpful, considerate, and accommodating. Our stay was during the COVID-19 pandemic and the entire staff was amazing and compassionate to fit our needs. We were able to have the to-go breakfast and a sanitized place to stay during the day while a member of our travel party had his surgery. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. I highly recommend this location!

This is a great place to stay. The staff is always friendly and ready to help. It's always clean. The breakfast is always so good. I would highly recommend if you are in the area and in need of a place to stay.

This Hotel has a great location, friendly staff, and clean rooms. What else can you ask for? I have been in many IHG hotels lately that seem like they are just "going through the motions" and have lost their focus on customer satisfaction and continuous improvement. That is definitely not the case with HIE Ft Wayne. Great night's rest in a wonderful, friendly environment!
