Best views in town

Reviewed 7 august, 2022

We spent four nights here at the end of July. The hotel is a complete eyesore from the outside, but it is visible for miles around; this made is incredibly easy to spot and made sure we always knew the way home. The interior is much nicer thankfully. The reception area is bright and very clean. We had a room on the 13th floor, which had the most amazing views of the park and mountains. We enjoyed watching the paragliders drifting past our balcony and landing in the park opposite. There was a live music performance in the park one evening, so we enjoyed that from our balcony with drinks bought at the local coop. The location is perfect, a short stroll to shops, bars and restaurants. The station is a ten minute walk away. We went on the Harder Kulm funicular (5 minute walk) and enjoyed a delicious cheese fondue. The views were spectacular and there were a few walking trails too. I would recommend getting the train and cable car to Jungfrau top of Europe tour. You will need a winter coat and hat, as there is snow on the mountain. Grindlewald is a short train journey away and definitely worth a visit. We got the cable car from the activity centre and enjoyed a ride on the zip wire. You can also get a boat from the port at the back of the station, which takes you to lots of little towns. The hotel does not have air conditioning, but the fan did a good job of keeping us cool. We did not eat in the restaurant, so I can’t comment on that. We had a drink in the bar one evening, but we found that it had no atmosphere, so we went elsewhere. Definitely a great base for exploring Interlaken and the surrounding area.

Metropole is a great place for your stay and family holiday to Interlaken and the region. 7-10 minutes walk from the Train station and the new wing rooms are available with a wonderful view of the valley, Jungfrau. Keep it up and we shall visit you again soon. Regards Asif Siddiqi & Family from London.

Stay at the Hotel Metropole, Interlaken, Switzerland

Excellent location. Tallest building in Interlaken though I wonder why they would have such an ugly structure in the middle of this beautiful town. Hotel overall however was nice. All rooms have a balcony which faces a very large open ground from where you can see the Para gliders all day long. Shops and cafe's are all close by. The lobby etc is rather old style for my liking. Service was over all nice.

Great views

I have been visiting this hotel everytime we visit Interlaken. When we holidayed as children our treat would be ice cream at the top of the Met and now 30 years on I still visit. Most recently with my sister as a trip down memory lane. The views at the top are stunning. Up to this year the staff have always been superb. Sadly last week the waiter was less than friendly so we just had one drink and left. We will be back and hopefully next time normal service will have been resumed

Amazing views from the 13th floor.

My father and I visited in June and had rooms on the 13th floor. The views were truly amazing and far outweighed any other aspect of the stay (although actually that was very good too). The rooms were spacious and clean and the beds very comfortable. Our rooms and en-suites were in very good condition with excellent showers/baths and we felt there was nothing to query. There was a fan for the hot weather but no air conditioning (I think this is the case). Each room has a balcony and table/chairs with fully opening sliding doors to access. The hotel itself is a tall old fashioned tower but I guess that doesn't matter once you are on the inside. The top floor restaurant has panoramic views through wrap around windows (and an outside terrace). Very good food IMO and we really enjoyed our week there. Would definitely return.
