Seen better days - not worth it!

After reading the reviews and seeing the pictures on the website we decided to book a 3-day stay at casa morada on our drive back from Key West. I’m still shocked that there were any good reviews at all. We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon and were charmed by the small fishing village. The landscaping at the resort was beautiful. The front desk person greeted us upon arrival and took us to our rooms. My first thought was that as we struggled to get our bags out of the car, he just watched and offered no help carrying any of the bags over the wet sand and up the stairs. We immediately went to the pool hoping to have a drink before sunset. We were told that there was no bartender since it was raining earlier. Apparently there is no bartender ever because they were none there any days that we were there. I think this Edith person mentioned in out her reviews is a figment of their imagination. We kept calling asking for someone and eventually sent a young man to help. We wanted mimosas but was told they didn’t have OJ. We ordered one glass of champagne ($10 according to price list) and was charged $28 for bar services at checkout. The resort claims it has a light lunch available, but we did not see any sign of that either. On the plus side, There were always towels at the pool and the kayaks and paddle boards were available and fun to use. They suggested staying close to mangroves since the water was choppy, but later we saw signs saying “Mangroves = Crocodiles, no swimming“. 😬 There are boats docked in the harbor area that are supposed to be used for sunset cruises but my husband got the feeling that the desk person was hoping we didn’t ask about them. The view from our room was spectacular. We could see the water and pool. The rooms were clean enough. You can tell that the resort was exceptional in its prime but the rooms definitely need updating. It appears that they tried to spruce up the rooms but missed the mark. Our shower did not have a shower door (intentional - see pic) so there was always water on the floor after it was used. Also, the door separating the bathroom from the main area was slatted therefore causing the bathroom to stay as cool as the rest of the room and not giving complete privacy. Since they do not have maid service, getting fresh towels and soap became a problem. We would walk to front desk every day since the phone in the room didn’t work to call the office. Apparently they don’t keep their shampoo well stocked because they didn’t have any to give us. Also, there was no blow dryer in our room. My husband went to the desk to ask for one and was told “not every room has one” and he didn’t seem to care or offer a solution. We decided to take advantage of the bikes on the property. The condition of the bikes was average but we were able to find ones that worked for us. We asked where the best places to go would be and we’re told it was not safe to ride along the highway and it was too dangerous to cross the road (be very careful). There are bike paths on both sides of the highway and we were able to ride to lunch (Bad boy burrito - highly recommended!), The Chicka Lodge property, and Key West Brewing Co ( also highly recommended). Not sure if the staff doesn’t care, not enough employees or just don’t know how to do their job. For the price that we paid for the room, we expected to have at least mediocre service and what was promised on the website. If you are planning on fishing or diving, then Islamorada is a nice place, however if you are looking for water sports, nice resorts, restaurants and just relaxation, continue all the way to Key West.
Paradise in the Florida Keys

Casa Morada is the kind of place that makes you feel great. I want to share how special this hotel is and the people who work here. I noticed some previous posts about construction and noise which may have been warranted at the time but everything is back to normal. Their seawall and dock have been repaired and the great ambiance is there. My wife and I spent last weekend at Casa and had a great time! Our air conditioning wasn't working right on the first night but they had it repaired first thing in the morning after we reported it. I can't say enough good things about the hotel, the staff, and the guests. BTW, I have been visiting here since the early 2000s. They are pet-friendly and have room for small to medium-sized boats. My wife and I have returned several times already this year, it's that nice.
Great Place to Stay

I was a little hesitant after reading the reviews about construction, but we just stayed here for 2 nights and had a great time. No construction but peace and quiet. Pool setting is beautiful and the room was very clean. Edith at the outside bar was awesome. Free bikes, paddle boards and kayaks available to all guests. Friendly staff. Will definitely be back!!!
Nightmare at Casa

Utter nightmare. Supposedly a quite place guess what jackhammers going near .nonstop near pool area. Front desk said they called on the 31st yellingeveryone. Guess what no voicemail and even if we were there was no chance tofind another place. Greatly disappointed. Supposedly voucher for 50% on future stay big deal I will never use it . Sad thing is its a pretty nice place with poor management. Just to know never write bad reviews, never. What would I do if I was running the place comp a day or two. Totally disappointed.
Horrible customer service - Hotel under construction
Reviewed 31 august, 2021
we booked Casa Morada for its tranquility and clean atmosphere, but it was either of the two. The hotel is under construction and they did not advice us not even when we checked in . The pool is noisy and dusty - the bar does not open until 4 pm due to the noise and the dust. I sent e-mails to Management and have not heard from them. The receptionist was not helpful but she did gave me the excuse that they were not aware of the noise until they came to work that the owner had not informed them of the construction. After I send an e-mail and with no respond at checked out i was offer a discount off my entire stay - it turned out they only discounted the taxes . Asked to speak with the Manager Aylin and was told he was not in , I asked if they can call her and was told by the receptionist that she had a personal emergency and they could not, finally i asked if she can give me a call before they charge my credit , i have not received a call and they charged my card. Very disappointed on the customer service . I have started at this hotel prior new Management cares very little for their customers. Call if you are planning to stay at Casa Morads.
