Family Friendly Stay

My family of 5 stayed here over Thanksgiving week and enjoyed every minute of our stay! With the few things that we found wrong with our townhome, the maintenance team quickly fixed them while we relaxed poolside. They have amenities for all ages and the staff is super friendly. Great resort!
Great stay with grandchildren

This is a very nice place that is conveniently located. The units have a full kitchen which could be stocked a little better. Having two bedrooms and two baths makes the place ideal for 4 people. We fish right off the sea wall and swam in the pool. However, what makes this place ideal for kids is the access the resort across the street, less than a mile away. Two heated pools, a hot tub, a fishing pier, and other activities available on the grounds made this an ideal vacation for us. If the larger resort had full kitchens and two bedrooms, we would have preferred to stay there. However, Bayside was very pleasant. I would stay there again.
Came here for a wedding....left disappointed

My family and I stayed in the townhomes, decided to make a vacation of our trip for a wedding. Wished I had looked at the reviews first. Upon our arrival, musty smell in the suite....we burned a candle the entire week, found a dead cockroach in the laundry area and floors not cleaned. The kitchen is not fully equipped had to make a trip twice to the dollar store to buy simple kitchen items that should have been provided, such as measuring cups, spatula, measuring spoons, bowls, hand soap, cookie sheet, potato masher, tongs, scissors. Not enough hangers in the closet, shower curtain had mold at the bottom, no dresser storage in the 2nd bedroom. Living room furniture not comfortable. And the TV was practically hanging from the ceiling; situated to high and we couldn't connect our firesticks. When I contacted the front desk regarding the cockroach, I was informed that the townhomes are in a 'lush tropical area and that is to be expected'. If you're looking for an average place to stay with okay amenities & cockroaches and priced as a luxury suite......The Islander Bayside Townhomes is just right for you.
Amazing potential, but falls far short

This place is cheaply made. It wouldn't take much to make this a very, nice perfect spot. However, everything is made cheaply as possible. Roaches, bees, and worms were sprinkled throughout our unit. You would expect a place like this goes between $200-400 max. Unless you have a boat and are staying there for the slips (which are also poorly designed), don't stay here. Spend the same amount of money and stay at a truly nice place like Cheeca Lodge. I just returned from a long weekend there and was supposed to go back for Thanksgiving, where it was close to a $1000/night for villa. We cancelled our reservation and are going to Vail as a family of 5 for less money than this place. Also, my friend was lying on the couch and a bee dropped from the couch and stung her. There were bugs everywhere. Management, provide towels at the pool, upgrade the units, have a tiki bar, - it would not take much to make this a great place. Right now, its probably one of the least favorite places I've stayed in the Keys and I've been coming to the Keys for 20 years.
Great location but needs better maintenance

We had 3 townhouses with 3 families. One had broken glass in the bathroom, used contacts on the counter, 1 roll of toilet paper, broken coffee maker, spot of blood on the bathroom wall and minimal soap. One of the others had ants in the kitchen. The beds were comfortable and all units could use a deep clean. The pools were nice and the food and service was good at the sister property.
