More about the hotel
Location is the best!!
First, let me say the staff was wonderful. The location of the hotel is awesome! Walking distance to several restaurants and stores. The pool was quite small and we wished it was on the beach side.... Our biggest complaint is that the room was really "loud". The people above us....were nonstop Noise Makers! Running back and forth. During waking hours and sleeping hours. My husband did go upstairs and ask them to be quiet. Didn't help. We were in Room 228. Beachfront room was nice though...loved the balcony. Everything was great but the noise from above. Beautiful area !!
Great weekend trip!
The Palms Oceanfront Hotel was an excellent place to visit for a quick weekend getaway. The boardwalk to the beach was perfect for walks along the ocean. Breakfast was to go due to the pandemic but they had good options to choose from.
Almost ideal
We did a short weekend getaway at this hotel to warm up a bit from the colder climate at home. The Palms is ideally located on the ocean and within walking distance to a few shops and restaurants. You can also drive easily to Mount Pleasant or Sullivan's Island, which are both just a few minutes away. For this reason alone it is a great place to stay. Our room was comfortable and clean for the most part. Sleep quality was somewhat good although given the configuration of the open halls with interior rooms there is a certain amount of amplified noise from people passing by and slamming doors. We had a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and very nice big screen TV. The bathroom is somewhat small but manageable. There are a few matters to be aware of that may be helpful as you consider a stay at the Palms. The ground level parking only provides for a handful of cars to park here so the majority of guests must park on the street. This can be tough in bad weather or for those with mobility issues. You can drop off luggage and then park but during peak season the street parking is probably challenging. Due to covid restrictions the morning breakfast (mostly cold packaged items) are scaled down and must be taken to your room to eat. Like many hotels there is no daily housekeeping service. You can pick up anything you might need from the front desk. although the staff is not always available in the lobby for immediate assistance, Given the very narrow lots lines here the partial ocean view rooms sit across from neighboring buildings so privacy is somewhat limited if you keep your drapes open. If you can get beyond the issues noted here then The Palms is an affordable option if you are after a beachfront location without breaking the bank. During our stay we had some minor issues that I addressed with the hotel manager directly. She was very apologetic and went over and beyond with her response to the concerns we conveyed. They are working very hard at good customer service, which is always a plus.
The perfect get away
If your traveling to Charleston alone or with a significant other , stay on the isle of palms at The Palms. I’ve stayed at The Palms 3 times since June 2019... in June 2019 I stayed in an interior room, and it did not have a window or balcony...not preferable. May 2020 I had a single King Ocean balcony view on the third floor, absolutely Best...very relaxing... you can leave your door open and sleep to the sound of the ocean. My last visit in October 2020 I had a single King partial ocean balcony view, and it was pleasant, but did not compare to the full ocean balcony view that I had back in May... I recommend the Palms if your getting away for 3 days or more.
Weekend Geteway
We had a great experience. Zander was fantastic helping us cancel one reservation and making another. Ed gave us a parking pass very early in the morning so that we could see the sunrise. Later Sydney checked us in and was super. Thank you.
