Great Location For Exploring Istanbul

Istanbul is one of the great tourist destinations and Hotel Aksaray is an excellent place to explore it from. It has easy access from the airport, is close walking distance to some of the greatest sights - Hagia Sophia, Grand Bazaar, Suleyman Mosque and the whole Sultan Ahmet shopping district. A minute or 2's walk connects you to the Tramway and Metro systems that access the entire city. The Aksaray district itself is vibrant, interesting and safe with many not too pricey restaurants and cafes. Hotel Aksaray is clean and comfortable with a friendly staff and a good buffet breakfast, Forget wasting money in a western hotel - stay here and enjoy exploring this fascinating great city.

We were there in 2012 .the rooms and the hotel itself were clean and calm, but they didn't have anything special.the breakfast was ok,but not very good.the hotel's location was good.it was between the taxim square and the historical places.so we could reach both of them dirrectly.it was a good hotel, bot not an excelent one!
Good hotel, bad location

The hotel itself is quite good, but location is realy bad due to shops for russian wholesale byers, so that there are a lot of people outside, this district is a big market. But close to center, just 3-4 stops by tram to old city. The breakfast is standart . The hotel provided free transfer to airport, it is very convinient.

Stayed there at September 2010, 4 nights, with a small group of friends. Irresponsible and bad Tourist Agency pick up this hotel, charge me 100e plus !!!! for "single" room (I was given small double room, with 2 small separate beds, instead of one normal, but they've been so kind an give me real single room...). I'm blaming me for being so naive and not to check the hotel facilities (my fault!). I had to add 100 euro for solo option. Hotel web presentation is absolutely inadequate. So: - Modest room furniture (it is not the obstacle!). Not very clean. - fridge out of order and horribly noisy, with water pond around it (appeared in the morning!) - tiny walls, you can hear every sound from neighbourly rooms - light in a halls and stairs is pre-set to switch off immediately, if you do not move on front of door while preparing keys, you WILL STAY IN A COMPLETE DARK! - hotel guests are mostly Russian smugglers, reception area a is full of people packing things in large Chinese bags -breakfast is too simple and feckless (boiled eggs, olives and low quality butter an honey...). It is an insult for extraordinary Istanbul food! - staff is nice, a bit of sad and slow. They have to keep your passport for at least 1 day, to make a copy!!They do not speak English at all, only Russian. I do o not recommend Hotel Aksaray, but I absolutely recommend Istanbul!!! It is beautiful and people is so warm and friendly!
