Excellent location with an old charm!
Untill the 50's, the aristocratic neighborhood of Péra, nowadays known as Beyoğlu, was the most cosmopolitan place to be in the City. Being the financial center of Constantinople, and inhabited by some 30.000 Greeks among others, it had the higher income per capita in the country. The wealth remains evident until now on the elaborate and well crafted mansions in the Grand’ Rue de Péra (i.e. La Gran Via), the famous İstiklâl Caddesi for Turks (Independence Avenue). One of these mansions, built in 1900, hosts the Mr. Cas Hotel, a beautiful boutique unit respectfully renovated with all the modern facilities. In the middle of İstiklâl its location coundn't have been better. Right next to the historic Lycée de Galatasaray, close to the hidden gem of the Greek-Orthodox church of Presentation of Mary and close to the mythical hotel of Péra Palace, the area is full of landmarks for you to discover, while the pedestrian way still remains one of the most commercial spots of Istanbul with some 6 million passers on average per day. If you want to dive in history, this City is the place to visit again and again! But even if you are just a flâneur who like wandering around, you will find it hard to get bored. Every sokak around becomes an islet of vibrand nightlife and you are just in the middle between Taxim and Galata. However, this may turn out a serious problem, as any soundproof is just not enough and you may end up sleepless, especially if you have been allocated on the 1st or on the 2nd floor. Moreover, the funnel of the restaurant next door goes all the way up to the roof again with a constant noise as if there is a vacuum cleaner working in your room. Staff understands this issue and sympathize with you and you will be offered the option to chose your preferred room, but this is only upon availability. So in this case, you should prefer the most quiet room instead of anyone else fitting your taste. By the way the loft 402 is a good one, although there is only a couple of skylights. The room is spacious and the bed is super comfy. I liked the fact that there was a nice perfume each time we were getting back, but cleaning was at lower standards that hotel's category and it felt kind of awkward. Breakfast was nice, full of local delicacies and not far from the standards of a 4* hotel. Again, staff was super friendly and professional and they offered coffee for free. Although filter coffee had somewhat the taste of the traditional Turkish coffee, I guess this is part of the experience and kind of funny. In general, their restaurant could be a real hit gaining walk-ins as well, but the menu is set and poor and it seems a bit neglected -there are far better options out there. Nevertheless, don't miss the chance to see the view of the Sultanahmet from their beautiful terrace. All in all, staying with Mr Cas was a nice experience for us and we would consider positively to return in the near future.
Beautiful hotel, Wonderful staff, Perfect location. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.
From the moment we arrived I fell in love with this hotel, there is nothing not to like, it is fabulous... Our room was beautiful and very quiet. The hotel has an exceptional chic style and character with many lovely areas to explore and enjoy. The staff were delightful and a special mention goes to Berke who made our stay most enjoyable. He is an excellent choice for the bar and restaurant. Breakfast was delicious with a great selection. Fantastic location everything in walking distance or a tram ride away.
Located at the bottom half of Istiklal St. this is where you want to be. Lovely old building with well preserved interiors and restored decorations. The service is very friendly and the best of all is the open-roof breakfast hall at the top floor.
A hidden museum at the heart of the Istiklal district
Staying in this hotel was like a dream came true. First of all, before our travel, we had a credit card problem to book this hotel but Mr. Kerim Nural helped us with a warm greeting through an email. After almost 10 days, The Turkish airlines re-arranged our flight to another date due to some result and so we had to change our booking dates, I was so worried about our stay but again Mr. Kerim Nural made everything fine with just an email. Our arrival to Istanbul was at 6.30 AM and so we arrived to the hotel at 9 AM, we were so tired and sleepy, so Mr. Kemal let us to check-in earlier than usual! He told us: "We are your brothers and tell us whenever you have a problem!" and seriously it meant so much to us. We stayed there for 6 nights at a backyard vintage room and there were no noisy nights! All the staffs were helpful and smiley. We literally stayed in a museum with a 5-star service. The lounge itself was amazing with that interior and the barista was so kind. I will definitely back to this hotel on my next travel and I do recommend it to all my friends and family.
1st Class Service
Without doubt, my best stay in Istanbul! Prior to my arrival, with their prompt reply via email, I gave them a call before I move from Asian side of Istanbul to their hotel. The reception gave a clear instruction to the taxi driver on where to drop me off so that their bellboy is able to pick me up as the hotel is in between the rows of shops of Istiklal Street. Upon arrival I am warmly welcomed by their friendly reception who tried his best recommending me to a few highlights in Istanbul. At the restaurant for my breakfast, (I didnt get his name- he was not working on my last day of breakfast) the staff was very good in approaching all his guests. Tried his best to speak Mandarin to some Chinese guests. Im in awe! My 2nd day, health went down and he notice Im having flu, hence made for me Ginger tea. Truely appreciate what he did! Indeed, lots of initiative from him though its not within his job scope. From the bottom of my heart, tesekkuler! The atmosphere of the whole hotel with the service provided by every single staff is so special that it really felt like home to me. All respect for the bellboy by the name of Cagatay who helped me to carry my 2 super heavy luggages to the taxi upon my check-out. Not a single complaint and always with a smile! Definitely willl come back again next June for my next trip! Thank You everyone at Mr Cas Hotel
