Marginal experience

The hotel is nice enough, but the noise (children squealing in the pool, barking dogs) made it difficult to relax. Some couples didn’t care and were openly making out in the hot tub (which actually was not hot). The breakfasts were actually pretty good, but the other food was typical fast food. The concierge (Franklin) was helpful in arranging tours but told us we didn’t need reservations for a special birthday dinner out at a local restaurant, only to arrive there and be told there were no tables available (without a reservation). Also we used his services to take a van of 4 people (rather than a taxi) to a restaurant 6 km from the hotel and he charged us $50 (even claiming to call the taxi service to see how much to charge). We looked it up ourselves and the typical fare would have been $15 round trip. The rooms were small. The HVAC was a bit mildewy smelling. The housekeeping services were marginal. They never left us fresh shampoo, didn’t always clean the coffee cups. Front desk personnel were great! Very helpful. The drivers were great. They rarely had fresh pool towels.

Pleasantly surprised.

I've been to Jaco dozens of times in my life and I really didnt know this place existed. We stayed here one night and I have to admit I was very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is beautiful, the staff was courteous and helpful. We ate dinner there as well as it started to rain and we didnt really wanna walk anywhere and the food was fantastic for a very decent price. Jaco is famous for being very expensive no matter where you go, with bad food being the norm, but our dinner was very good. Again I was very surprised. I'll be staying there again, no doubt.

Beautiful and Great Staff

I visited Jaco, CR a while back and stayed at this lovely hotel which I highly recommend to anyone visiting Jaco. The room had a washer/dryer, a full kitchen stocked with pots, pans, plates, etc. There were 2 full sized bathrooms, and a large living room. Upon arriving at the hotel we met the manager, Alexandra, and she was divine! She was not only a very sweet person, she was so helpful, accomodating, and did whatever she could to keep her guests happy. The shower in our room wasn't operating correctly and she made sure it was repaired within an hour -maybe less than an hour. There was a guest in the hotel that drank too much one night and caused a scene, she was so apologetic to the other guests as if it was her fault when it clearly wasn't! Jaco is a place to party and he took advantage of the resources. Alexandra made sure to take care of the bad situation asap and she deserves some kind of recognition for her hard work and dedication to the hotel in my opinion. The owner of Ocean Boutique has an asset. If it weren't for her, I would probably give the hotel a 3 or 4 star review. When we go back, I hope to see her there!!

PET FRIENDLY DISASTER - ruined my stay.

This hotel IS PET FRIENDLY - which means you will hear dogs barking all night. Beyond disappointing. It completely ruined my stay. Other than that beautiful property and helpful staff but the decision to allow pets ruined the stay for me. WHY ARE YOU BRINING YOUR PET ON VACATION?!!!!!

Lovely hotel

Nice hotel in an otherwise run down area, but near Jaco Beach. Breakfast is included - not buffet, it's sit down and order. I wish they would have included 2 towels/person, and more shampoo/person (only 1 in room when we checked in) - weed asked for more of each which was no problem. Our 2 room suite was lovely - and included a safe. Lobby, and pool area are really pretty. We enjoyed our stay.
