Fist of all they make a big mistake when they ask you to reserve with NO refund facility during the PANDEMIC. Should not be like that, maybe they do not know what is happening in the real world. Price is absolutely too expensive for what they offer. Our big room for 4 people had a bathroom of maximum 2,5 sqm , incredibly small, never seen something like that. No place to hang 1 towel, imagine 4 people with 8 towels + beach towels + wet swim wear... no way... 2 people of our party had to sit for 2 days on the toilet , they committed the crime to order drink with ICE. For that price you expect the ice to be made with good water, if that exists in Jeri. It is considered to be one of the best hotels in Jeri... I do not want to see the others...

High scale, location, family

Reviewed 22 august, 2020

Review for our stays in July 2019 for a family of 4, two teens. For our family, we wanted to stat with a nice location, not too far from the important sites (the beach, duna do por do sol, restaurants), where there are enough space for a family of 4 to stay together (and not having to book 2 rooms and have the family separated). And with some full service hotel pampering. We booked via bookings.com, which seems to be the engine to do bookings in Brazil. The engine will provide you with various possible arrangements and the quote. We were monitoring this property for weeks until this suite became available. It's very comfortable, AC works well, both in the living room and bedroom, and it had a kitchen. We had two bathrooms, a plus when you have teens. In high season, the cost was about $200 per day, which is expensive considering Jericoacoara, but on par of full service luxury apart hotels right on the beach. The hotel is beautifully landscaped, and breakfast is right on the beach. The hotel has a restaurant where they serve full buffet breakfast (included on our rates). You can ask the waiter and order items from the kitchen, they are included, including eggs, omelettes, and the tapioca pancake, which I think you should try. The breakfast is really good, with a great variety of breads, fruits, cakes and the ubiquitous pao de queijo (a kind of tapioca starch bread with cheese). The hotel will arrange tours for you, and put you in touch with "bugueiros" (buggy drivers who will take you to tours). Most of the bugueiros will charge about the same, and will probably offer you the same routes (typically, a "west route" and a "east route"). To have expectations right, this is not a full size Caribbean resort, but is neither a pousada. It feels more like a boutique hotel but with one bedroom apartments offerings. As of 2019, the property looks pretty new, and I was told it was built very recently. We loved the location. It's on the stretch of beach near the main street and hence very close to the duna do por do sol, where we head for our daily pilgrimage at sunset time. A lot of the good restaurants right next door. It is located one street south of the main, so it is close to the action, but slightly quieter. We haven't had any issues with noise at night at sleeping time. All in all, a great stay in Jericoacoara. For me, worth the spurge.

Badly maintained hotel with very unfriendly staff

Reviewed 18 august, 2019

We stayed for 2 nights at My Blue in Jericoacoara (we left a day early). The rooms smell, bathroom and toilet are not clean. I don’t mind that interior is outdated, but I don’t like it when it is not clean and malfunctioning due to poor maintenance. The pools at the hotel site are either closed or so dirty that the floors of the shallow pools are invisible. The beach facilities are not catered at all for a hotel with 40+ rooms (I estimate they have not more than 20 spots for their guests at the beach). The food (breakfast) is not great and the staff is unfriendly and uninterested. No-one asked me or my family members during my stay whether we were enjoying ourselves. BTW: The village is nice, with lots of great restaurants.

Not worth it.

If this were a 3-star hotel (and priced accordingly) I’d say it was a great value. For a high-end hotel it's significantly lacking. We had a few issues with this hotel: —The refrigerator door was misaligned and wouldn’t close all the way unless you closed it firmly (and housekeeping never did, so all the liquids were consistently slightly cooler than room temp). I reported this when we checked in but nobody ever fixed it. --The door to the balcony is misaligned, leaving an opening about 1” at the bottom. No creepy crawlies came in but I believe that was just luck. --The pool is dirty - the jacuzzi constantly had scum bubbles forming in it (didn’t stop my kids from going in). To be fair, the beach is extremely convenient but it’s nice to relax with kids at the pool after a long day of activities. --The WiFi was broken the entire week. It occasionally worked spottily but 90% of the time it was completely non-functional. When I had to get online to quickly solve a problem at work, I had to tether my international cell data plan to get online. --Out of the 5 nights I stayed here I had exactly one hot shower (I usually took one in the morning and one before dinner). If not for the one hot shower I would just say “this hotel doesn’t have hot water”. --The TV didn’t work for 2 out of the 5 days we stayed here. I’ve got better things to do than watch TV but it’s helpful to keep the kids entertained while I take a cold shower Service is OK but has an air of pretentiousness that is not earned by the quality of facilities or staff. When my wife needed to take our sick son to the doctor, the front desk suggested she walk with our sick 4-year-old to the clinic on the other side of town. When my wife pointed out that was going to be very difficult, nobody seemed at all inclined to help. She ended up going to a buggy driver who was dropping some guests off and asking him to give her a ride to the clinic. Side note: storing antibiotics was difficult with a fridge that housekeeping consistently left partially open. When we asked the front desk to book a private buggy ride, they insisted that only HiLux trucks were available. We asked our friends at Vila Kalango to check with their hotel, and they were able to arrange buggies (pricey but less than the HiLux and way more fun). Our request to check out at 12:30 instead of 12 in order to accommodate a morning surf lesson was declined. They stressed that we would be billed for an extra half day if we checked out after 12. Speaking of checkout, it took forever for reasons I still can't comprehend. I showed up to check out at 11:35 and ended up leaving about 30 minutes later (thankfully was not charged for the extra 5 minutes on the premises). A ham and cheese sandwich and fries cost R$55 at the restaurant. Even by local standards that’s pretty high (but not outrageously so - Jeri is pricey especially right by the beach) There were a couple of good spots: --Breakfast is pretty much the same thing every day but it’s good. Coffee is not good but that’s typical in Brazil. --There’s security (who also double as porters) all around the hotel 24h, and they’re all extremely nice and eager to make guests happy. The front desk could learn a lot from them. --The location is fantastic. Possibly the best in Jeri. Jeri doesn’t have a lot of infrastructure and many of the hotels are rustic. I’m completely understanding of that and am not, for example, complaining about not being able to flush toilet paper or about the substandard air conditioning. However, all of the issues I had are fully within the hotel’s control. The Vila Kalango (where our friends were staying) has functional WiFi and a clean pool, and is literally about 100m away from the Blu Residence. If we go back to Jeri (not easy with family), we'll be staying there.
