Nice but not worth the price
Reviewed 10 january, 2022
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights while visiting the National Park. It was pleasant, but for the price I expect a bit more in the way of amenities. Very close to the park entrance, but also close to the main road with a fair amount of traffic noise when sitting outside. Room was nicely appointed with a comfortable bed and a delightful shower. But: no TV, no ice machine (knees need ice after long hikes), no hot tub (wasn’t advertised to have one, but ditto on the after-hike joint and muscle needs.) Also, really no one onsite to talk to about any concerns or questions.

I don't want to write a review because if I tell you how great our stay here was, I'll never get a reservation again! everything was exquisite! the whole property was literally my dream come true. We reserved the Jade room, and every one of the fixtures worked perfectly as well as the amenities. Coffee machine with Pete's coffee pods stocked to the brim. Cold water carafs ready for you in the fridge. The day bed outside with the tub was my favourite. Indoor AND outdoor shower. Bed was comfy with plenty of options for pillow types. Air condition worked great. there were actually 2 AC units, soi again you had your choice which one you'd prefer. We laid out under the stars at night and drifted in and out of sleep. what an incredibly peaceful place to chill. And most of all, 5 minute drive to town OR to the park. lovely stay, will be back. thias place is a GEM!

Amazing place to stay!

We love our time at Sacred Sands. The room was beautifully decorated. The outdoor tub, shower and lounge area was incredible. All the little details for this property have been very well-thought out. It was an absolute pleasure to stay here and we'll definitely be back next year.

Don’t really want to share this secret

4.5 stars. I stayed here with a friend back In July for two nights. I had never heard of this place and thought I got “stuck with the last resort” as I ran out of houses to book due to not planning ahead. But I was pleasantly surprised at how cool this place was. There are only two units so it’s perfect in the time of social distancing. That said, be prepared to be somewhat isolated. I initially planned on traveling by myself but was joined by a friend at the last-minute, which was a blessing. Otherwise, I would have felt a little uneasy being all by my lonesome in this house in the middle of nowhere. Rooms are adequately-sized and has all of the amenities of a rental that you would need. If they don’t have it, you can just contact the owners to ask for something. The shared spaces are also really neat and photo-worthy. I love the unit’s outdoor tub and bed and general space, and once you see it, you’ll definitely recognize it from some photoshoots or Instagram. The weekend we were there was an amazing time to see the heavens (between Neowise and six planets aligning). I loved being able to just stay on the outdoor bed, drink wine, and stargaze. The main purpose of my trip was to reflect and bond with my friend, and SS helped make that happen. Would definitely come back.

Understand what you're getting

This is listed as an Inn or B&B on TripAdvisor, which I assumed meant breakfast/ food available, someone cleans the room, etc. But Sacred Sands is really an AirBnB - you have a room (ours had a fridge, I think the other has a kitchenette) and you are on your own for everything (it is under new ownership, so things may have been different before). Given that, we thought the price was really high for what you get, even with the amenities they do offer, like robes and slippers. There are many very cute AirBnBs and guest houses in Joshua Tree that are way less expensive, and if I had known this was essentially an AirBnB we would have made a different accommodation choice. The room was also quite dark at night - you have to turn on a ton of lights, and even then it's quite dark - and I think older guests would struggle with this. Other than that it is as advertised - looks exactly like the pictures - and the new owners seemed nice.
