Family Festive Trip to the Perfect Paradise Island
What an amazing trip to the ultimate paradise island. We were very lucky to be able to return to Kuda Huraa over the recent festive period following all of the uncertainty with the global COVID crisis. Having visited the resort a number of times before, we had a longer trip planned this time with 10 of us going including grandparents and my brother's young family. Given our previous experiences, we certainly had high expectations but once again we were blown away. It's fair to say that every touch point you have with the Four Seasons Kuda Huraa operation is excellent. We booked this trip 2 years in advance and right from the start, you get the feeling that everyone at the resort really cares about your experience with them. The booking process was ably managed by the Director of Rooms, Maximilian, who we had met a year before and who was more than happy to deal with even the smallest query. We went through a full cancellation of the trip due to COVID restrictions, and then rebooking the whole thing as the travel corridor became available, and all of it was seamless. With all the stress and concern about travelling during the pandemic, it feels like the Maldives have got it just right. With pre-travel tests for all passengers on the planes, and precautions at both the airport, transfers and in resort, the risks felt well managed. On arrival we were met by many of the staff who we had met before, which was a lovely welcome, and also the two babysitters, Shiu and Jumma. There's no question that the quality of childcare at Kuda Huraa is the best we have experienced at any resort, and certainly in the Maldives. Kuda Huraa benefits both from a proximity to Male, and also to the neighbouring Huraa island, and it really shows in the depth of really capable and experienced babysitters/nannies they have in resort. Shiu and Jumma both had such a reassuringly calm and confident approach that made it easy to enjoy the evenings right from the start of the holiday. The food at Kuda Huraa was once again incredible with the three signature restaurants, Baraabaru, Kandu Grill, and Reef Club, never putting a foot wrong. Breakfast and lunch were both just what we wanted and we were well looked after by Wasiu and Nishan who quickly picked up on the idiosyncrasies of our large group and had limitless patience entertaining the little ones. It is a real credit to the two managers of these restaurants, Joseph and Branka, that both the food and service is consistently excellent. They also couldn't be more helpful in trying to make your night extra special, even when you arrive with a party of 10 without a booking on one of the busiest evenings of the year! All of the bar staff deserve a big mention. Das, Brian, and Danu in the Sunset Lounge, and Didi at the Pool Bar, all make you feel very welcome, and always have something delicious and refreshing to enjoy while crab racing, fish feeding, or just watching the sun go down. No trip to Kuda Huraa would be complete without enjoying some of the ocean activities on offer and this time we swapped our fins and masks for 9ft surfboards. Having never done this before we were quickly into the swing of it through the excellent coaching of Hamish and Holly at Tropic Surf. They had our 7y/o daughter standing up on her first day and from then on we never looked back. Even the grandparents had a go! The other activity that stood out was the turtle snorkelling and sand bank BBQ we did one day. We took a boat to the other side of the atoll and had the most amazing hour swimming with turtles watching them dive and feed on the coral. Once we had finished, on the way back, the resort had arranged for a BBQ to be set up on a deserted sand bank in the middle of the ocean and we enjoyed the most fantastic lunch while the sea gently lapped the sand. Big praise has to go to Oppo from the recreation centre for his cheffing that day, what a treat. Sometimes it's hard to put your finger on what makes a place really special. There is no question that the location at Kuda Huraa is truly stunning and the facilities, food and drink are out of this world, but the difference from the other places we have been to in the Maldives, and elsewhere, comes back to the people at the top and the operational culture they have created on the island. All the staff genuinely seem to enjoy working there. There is no doubt Randy Shimabuku really cares about each and every guest's experience at Kuda Huraa, but you get the feeling he cares about his staff just as much. Before I finish this rather long review of the Four Seasons Resort at Kuda Huraa, a couple more mentions: Firstly Ahmed on the front desk who always seemed to have a solution to a problem before we knew if was a problem. And secondly Shaheen from housekeeping, who we got to know a few years ago when he looked after our bungalow, and has since moved onto a different job where we don't see him at all but he always makes a point of finding me and saying hello and asking about the family. It's these little touches. Every year we say we must try somewhere else, and every year we can't bear to miss out on our Kuda Huraa fix. it's such a special place.
Exceptional hospitality
We visited the four seasons kuda huraa property after a tough year! It was a much needed break and the staff was beyond excellent! They were so courteous and friendly! I celebrated my birthday and they made it so special for me and my family! Can’t wait to go back!!! Special mention for Ossuma Maximilian Branca Jenny Hansinii they went all out to make our trip memorable! We can’t wait to go back!!!
Service in our opinion is simply dreadful.
So we put in a request for information via messenger to the resort. Basic stuff like whats there to do for children?, Can we get some dietary information and where can we book a package from the UK. Bear in mind we were to spend approx £10,000 for 7 nights at this resort. Back came the astonishing responses; Kids can play outside??!! We have no dietary information just look at the menus on-line It is private and confidential where you can book packages for the resort in the UK!!?? Absolutely mindblowing and severly lacking service. Funnily enough we requested the same info from competitor resorts of a similar class and got instant information with wonderful service. Having looked at some reviews and of various You Tube videos since it seems we are not the only ones to suffer poor service. I was promised an email from the Manager which not surprisingly has not appeared. To whoever reads this we seek nothing except for a 5 star service and a seamless experience.
Beautiful Island
Beautiful place and we had a great time. I liked the island very much, the atmosphere is pleasant. I didn't like only one thing - after the rain, no one came to replace the wet mattresses on the terrace, we waited until 1pm. then we already began to contact the service staff. I would like to express my special gratitude to Andrey, who works at the reception he is professional expert in his field and very pleasant in advice. Also Branca, she is a manager -very responsive and attentive to details. We thank you all for a wonderful stay and a little turtle souvenir!
Reef club restaurant ( Good food, from a good team )
Many thanks to the chef and all the staff at Reef club Restaurant, who surprised us tonight with a special Mediterranean dish. The chef's work was excellent, starting with Focaccia Bread that took us to Italy and then a mixed menu from all around the Mediterranean starting from Lebanon and then an attractive Italian soup and main course of Italian shrimp and lobster but served in the style of Greek restaurants ( By adding tomato, onion, sumac and yogurt) and finally in Turkey, with a great Kanafeh and pistachio ice cream, the saltyness of pistachios does a strange job with your sense of taste, but The chef by adding mango, make bridges from Turkey to the Indian Ocean For your return to the Maldives . This chef and his colleagues at Ruff Restaurant can take you on a safe trip around the Mediterranean without the restrictions of Coronavirus. Thank you for a nice dinner
