Nice hotel, great staff, perfect!
If you are going to spend your holidays in Santorini, Kamari, I highly recommend this nice place to stay. The reasons are simple: the price is decent, the rooms are comfortable and clean the staff is friendly and the breakfast is good And if the sea is not calm, you can always swim in the pool. I will definitely be back here!
Improvements needes ASAP
We stayed at the hotel for a few days on a family vacation. We received a confirmation on our reservation of 3 rooms through the Israeli agency, The Flying Carpet. When we arrived at the hotel, it turned out that there were only two rooms available. We were offered to move to another hotel, which we were told was 4* as opposed to Areti, which was 3* and we agreed as the other option was to take the two rooms at Areti and have some of us move to the other hotel, which was not close by, and stay there alone. We arrived at the other hotel, waited for hours at the reception as the rooms needed to be cleaned. When we finally received the rooms, they were dreadful. Dark, very small, outdated and they smelled of sewage. I decided that there was no way we would stay there. Somehow, the agency called Areti and they agreed to have us back but we needed to wait for the rooms to be ready. The agency told us that Areti usually overbooks and then they don't know how fix the problem. We arrived back at Areti and received our rooms around 4 pm and we landed at Santorini at about 10:30 am. So here went our first day out of 3 days ... As for Areti hotel, let's start with the good things: the hotel is a little oasis, located at Kamari, and is about 400 meters walk from the beach and the promenade. It is not the best location, but it is not bad. The yard with the pool and the bar is perfect and welcomimg and has good vibes. The guy who runs the place is nice and helpful and does what he can to help but it is obvious that the team does not know how to host and how to handle tourists in high season. Rooms: Ours was very spacious and clean but it is old and outdated. You can see that no one has renovated this place for years, which is a shame because it can be such a nice place. Our room was not cleaned one day and on the other day we didn't have toilet paper and hot water. Something was wrong and we had to wait for a while until it was fixed. When coming back after a day of sailing or from the beach, it was not a nice feeling at all. Breakfast: Not a good variety but you can get by with it. The workers barely keep up with the guests and food was finished all the time. Breakfast is served at the same space of the reception as it is a small hotel of only 20 rooms, but there is no AC and when it is fully occupied, it is just not nice to sit there. AC also did not work properly in our room and although there are TVs in the rooms, they are not connceted to anything and don't work. One evening we came back and there was a party outside. Nice music and great atmosphere. We sat the balcony of the room and ordered something from the bar. It was nice, but we had to sit in the dark because our balcony light was broken. It is the little thing that if they worked, they could have made this experience so much better. I would not go back to this hotel because at the moment, it is just not good enough to be qualified as 3* and it isa shame because this place is cute and has so much potential. A word about Santorini in high season: Very expensive, very disappointing, there are no words to describe. It is such a desired location, such a stunning island but it is packed with tourists in the summer and unfortunatey, the Greeks don't know how to handle it. They have been doing that for years and they basically live on tourism and they have so much to learn on how to give a good experience to the tourists. The airport experience on our way back was exhausting. It is a small space with ton's of people to the point that you cannot breath. AC is not their strong side even in the height of August. I have been to Santorini years ago, in mid October, and it was just a dreamy trip, unlike this last, depressing trip. We did manage to enjoy a nice cruise and the great beaches , so my advice would be don't go in high season. Come either in May or the end of September-October, and as for Areti hotel, they can do so much better.
Beautiful place with beautiful people.
We had a short stay in Santorini during our visit to Greece 🇬🇷 as it’s a must see. The staff of Areti made us possible to see as much as we can in the time we had. The most friendly and helpful staff I have ever seen. Our stay was wonderful.
Lovely Hotel
Stayed with my wife for 3 nights. This is a good 3 star hotel, brilliant family run, great staff. Everything is super clean, and good location to the beach. Breakfast is good, traditional Greek. Pool is nice. We had s great stay, would return.
Typically Greek and good.
Great hospitality, very helpful, clean simple rooms and nice pool. What more do you want from a 3 star hotel? Most of the guests seem to be Russian and the breakfast may be centered around them. Pool is nice and no fighting over sunbeds, which is nice. Hotel staff are super helpful and gave a present to my wife on her birthday. Amazing! Shower is quite small and the curtains stick to you and I'm not big. We had to stay in another hotel the first night, which was disconcerting but the rest of the stay was fine. 10 minute walk to the beach and all the restaurants and shops so ideally located. Get a sea view and away from the chickens next door.
