Basic but a great choice for a few nights
Stayed here during a visit to Siemens which is at walking distance. And that makes it an excellent choice. The room was spacious and very clean. The bed was a bit firm but good. Bathroom small but nice and tidy. Good shower and soft towels. The room was quite and you can open a window if required. Breakfast was delicious and offered great selection.
Average Hotel well away from anything other than Siemens
Stayed at the Star Inn as the visit was only 3 nights, but did not read up on its position The hotel is a standard Comfort establishment, clean, nice rooms, good free wifi, ample car parking and a very nice breakfast buffet served over a 4 hour period. Drawbacks you can hear all the noise in the corridor though not next door, I had a couple of very noisy families on the Saturday night. The hotel is in the middle of an industrial estate, other than an odd garage nowhere within 15 mins walk to get dinner (The Star does not do evening meals). If you have a car a few restaurants are reachable. If you are not able to walk or drive this is not the place for you. I was told one restaurant was within 15 mins, so 40 mins later still not found it. I visited an Italian restaurant, which is the nearest for two nights (see my report). The good news is that the terminus of route 2 tram is next to the hotel and it goes to the main railway station. I would suggest taking the tram into center of town in the evening, as there are a number of excellent eating places. Over all, I wish I had paid the extra and stayed in a hotel in town, life would have been much easier. If you there for business then it is a good base. Would suggest the hotel should look at having evening meals
Out of town hotel but well worth a visit
Booked this well in advance so got a cheap rate for a larger double room. The room was clean, quite warm at times but spacious with a chair to relax in, double bed, wardrobe, bathroom with shower, etc. Although there should have been wi-fi, my phone couldn't even identify a router to connect to so this is the only downside. Luckily, 4G (on O2) was good so I used this throughout my visit. Had breakfast on two of the three days I was there and although it seems expensive at 14 Euros, there aren't really any alternatives close by. Scrambled eggs was the only hot option but there were various breads, cold cuts, smoked salmon (on 1 day), jams, cereals, cake, juices, tea/coffee, yogurt, etc so more than enough. Even on days where there were a lot of people in, they did keep most things topped up. This is an out of town hotel but the tram from the city centre stops adjacent to the hotel with the stop towards the city across the road. You can buy a ticket on the tram and it doesn't take long to get into the city. The tram also goes direct to the railway station. If you are not bothered about staying in the city or need to be based in this area, it's a good hotel to stay in.
Clean, pet friendly but breakfast runs out on weekends
Room was pretty hot even though cooler weather outside and never was able to regulate temp. They charge 5€ parking/day but never took our car/license plate so how do they know who paid? Right near tram stop and about 30 min downtown. Nice restaurants in the area 5-10 min by car. Both weekend breakfasts we were down at 0800-0830 and all white rolls were gone as were eggs with meager offerings of everything else. Had to wait over 20 min for them to bring out more scrambled eggs. Same with white rolls but they were freshly baked which was great. Quiet hotel only heard neighbors tv a little. Very faint internet on 4th floor. Would still stay again. Remember this is a huge hotel so be prepared for large groups at check in and breakfast. Breakfast did cost extra for us. Not included. Love wood floors bringing my big dog who enjoyed his stay as well. Lots of areas for walking.
Europe Holiday 2018
We stayed in this hotel on our way to Europa-Park at Rust, which is one hour drive to the south. City centre is 10 minuets away by car. It is a nice and comfortable hotel. Staff was kind and helpful. Free parking is available.
