Exceptional Stay
Stayed here for about a month visiting family in Kauai during the pandemic. Cannot say enough positive things about the property. My 2br unit was spacious, comfortable and immaculately clean. The staff was genuinely warm and wonderful. Most importantly their Covid protocols were second to none. Cannot recommend this property strongly enough and believe it is underrated at 3.5 stars and exceptional value as well.
Home Away
This resort offers a quiet retreat from the typical resort feel. We rarely saw people on property. Good couples hotel. The pool was reservation only which reduced traffic. Ocean waves, the pond fountain and CHICKENS are the only sounds you hear. Be prepared to hear them before sunup! Parking was a easy, check in was unorganized and painful. But as long as you don’t need to bother the staff you will enjoy your piece of paradise. Taylor is the exception -super resourceful. Pack light. It’s a long way up to the third floor. Once you get there the high wood ceiling make it worth your sweat. The appliances are old and scary to use butttttt it’s paradise so we made it work. Bring your own food and entertainment. The nearby restaurants fill too fast considering its covid season. Expect old charm. You won’t be disappointed.
Wyndham Ka’Eo Kai: Paradise Found!
Wonderful week in February 2020 at this resort—great time in spite of “rainy season” and slightly cool weather. Lots to do and see in the area. Anini Beach nearby offered great snorkeling between an offshore reef and protected sandy shore. Plus nearby Mountains to climb, surf to conquer, boats to ride, sites to see. Wyndham staff helped arrange off-site activities and offered discounts and scheduling suggestions, shared inside information of the island community to suit our interests, and arranged on site activities including a nice super bowl party and pot luck event for everyone. Service: Front desk and concierge staff were young, energetic, exceptional—ALWAYS warm and welcoming, considerate of specific needs, and never intrusive. (Though everyone on premises was wonderful, special thanks to Justice, Taylor, Melana at the front desk and to Vicky and Rod in the concierge group. Thank you for a wonderful week.) Accommodations: layout is open, airy, and inviting; furniture is attractive, comfortable and sturdy; full kitchen with appliances in good shape; water pressure and lighting, great. Floor to ceiling glass brings the outside in, offering great views of the grounds and the Pacific while maintaining privacy of interior units; grounds are colorful and well maintained; free parking available though sometimes tight. Lots of walking paths available in the area. We stayed a second week at another local and beautifully appointed resort as well, but they they fell short of the exceptional service by Wyndham employees, the expansive Pacific views, and spacious rooms. (Bonus: Wyndham received and stored necessary medical supplies that were delivered before our arrival—very responsible hoteliers.) Other MISC: yes, there are roosters all over this island, esp, since they have no natural predators here. But they were part of the local charm, along with beautiful tropical fish beyond description, the giant sea turtles swimming next to you just off the beach, beautiful mountains and waterfalls around almost every corner (photographed in many movies like Juraissic Park), and the stunning Na’pali Coast. A drive to the south side of this small island gets you to always-sunny, always warm Poipu Beach, Waimea Canyon, and cooler State Park overlooks and trails at higher elevations. Coffee every morning in the lobby with free paper — if you have to get your news while on vacation. Would go back any day, any season. (Time share note: we stayed at Wyndham Ka’ Eo Kai as part of our time share exchange program in another country. We opted in for additional time share presentation at this Wyndham in exchange for deep discounts on plane and helicopter tours as well as boat tours to Na’pali Coast. Sales staff was polite and to the point, not pushy.)
Don't go in winter
We stayed during early Feb 2020. During the first 2 nights of our stay the weather was cold (50s) and windy at night. WE quickly discovered that the windows didn't close properly. We asked maintenance multiple times to correct the issue. One of their maintenance guys us to close the drapes. Property is in a great location in Princeville. Front desk staff is very friendly and responsive. Also be ware that some units are on the 3rd floor (no elevators). We have stayed there twice and both times we were assigned a unit on the 3rd floor.
Great place in a great location.
Overall a beautiful resort, even though it’s not on the beach it’s close to some and has great views all around you. The unit is large and well equipped but has a strange layout with no bathroom door?
