Beautiful First Class Property
Just returned and had a wonderful stay. Staff very attentive and very kind. Things feel like they are opening up and returning to somewhat "normal" . Can't say enough great things about staff. Eliezer Bermudez, outstanding manager of food and beverage.
Beautiful Resort - seriously understaffed
We arrived at 6pm for check in, waited in a line for 30 minutes only to find our room now ready. They sent us to the restaurant on the premises-40 minute wait there. When we did finally get seated, no service, not even waters for 20 minutes. Unfortunately, it seemed like they were extremely short staffed and drinks took 20 mins every time. Food took even longer. Our room was not ready till after 9pm. They did give us a very small reimbursement, but really wasn’t worth it after traveling 8 hours to get to the resort. The staff was extremely helpful when they were able to. Just could clearly see the hotel tried to cut corners by lowering staff and especially during a school vacation week when the place was PACKED with families. I would recommend this place, just not during a school vacation week. And maybe don’t expect timely service. Very beautiful resort though.
Honeymoon hammocks bungalow stay
The Marriott app said checkin time was 3pm for our hammock bungalow room, we arrived at 330pm and the said checkin was at 4pm even though the app said 3pm. Room wasn’t ready until 430pm. They were understaffed and booked solid so people’s rooms were not ready when stated. Simple fix is to hire more maids so people’s rooms are ready when stated. We rented the hammocks bungalow for our honeymoon since they were private, but they were not private. You can see everyone’s balcony in the other hammock bungalows and the maids quarters were 30ft across from our balcony’s and could see and hear them 24hrs a day. They were outside folding towels, talking, smoking and loud radios. I had to call and ask if they could please be less noisy n give us some privacy. I even called BEFORE our stay and asked about the hammock rooms privacy on the balconies n she assured me they were ultra private and all I’d see n hear were trees and birds . This was not the case. It felt like we were being watched 24/7 so we couldn’t use the balconies. Was disappointed they were not private balconies. Also , there were tons of kids in the pool playing Marco Polo n football catch etc, was very noisy since there was no separate kids pool. Even during the week there were over 50 kids there, the kids camp was closed but still there were tons of kids. More of a family resort. The hammock room was very nice inside, nice bathrooms n tile floors. Upgraded counters n appliances were all very nice. The resort was very nice n had a great beach with calm n clean water. Fire pits n live music at sunset. Very family oriented. The restaurants were very good, the ribeye steaks were awesome. Just seemed understaffed everywhere. They didn’t anticipate getting booked solid I guess. Hard to find a chair at the pool n beach it was so crowded. If looking for upscale family resort this is for you, if looking for romantic private couple stay then probably not the best fit. Will try the bungalows adult only inclusive resort in largo next. Picture is if maid outside our balcony 30ft away. Must been their break room too , so they were outside on their phones n hear their walkie talkies . They created a path from there to the rooms so privacy is lost . A simple fence or screen blocking the maid quarters would be a big help a give the people privacy. We stayed in sunset #6, the other side of bungalows was prob more private. Nice family property, disappointed on the privacy after I was told it was very private.
2021 Review
We came here last year and it was great. We are having the same experience this year. The weekend was crowded but now it is completely empty! There are many great things to do like parasailing and fishing.
Nice pool area
We stayed here for a long weekend for Labor Day 2021 since our original plans were rescheduled due to Covid. We had stayed a few nights prior at a different property and weren't sure what to expect BUT we found this resort to be a nice surprise. We had a suite, and really enjoyed the extra living space. While the beach area isn't as expansive as others we had visited, it had a handful of seating options. We enjoyed the drink service, but it could take a while for them to make their rounds. We really enjoyed the large pool area, and loved the EVENTIDE ceremony. The location was close enough for us to easily grab food from other local restaurants, and also use food delivery. If we find ourselves headed to Key Largo again, we would return!
