We had an amazing vacation at sunset keys! The travel from mainland key west to sunset keys was so easy. The ferry staff were always so kind and the late-night (2am) rides were perfect for a night on the town! We loved the complementary breakfast baskets and turn-down baskets. We didn’t need to cook breakfast any morning, which was amazing after nights of partying! Latitudes, the island restaurant, was divine. Highly recommend checking their availability when you check into the hotel, as space fills up! We got to spend time with Conal, one of the bartenders, when we first got there. He gave us a lay of the land and reminded us of the free rum tasting every day at 4:30pm! We also loved spending time on the beach. Kevin, the beach bartender, was SO GREAT!! He was so fun to chat with, and totally made our day. Highly recommend the key lime colada! Thank you sunset keys for the amazing vacation. The best way to kick off the final 60 days before the wedding!!
Enjoyed our vacation

We had a very enjoyable and relaxing vacation at Sunset Key. My son loves to fish and they had poles and frozen shrimp so he could fish off the dock. He loved that. There is 1 restaurant that has a great view and good food. It’s easy to walk around the property and felt very safe. The pool bartender, Thomas and beach server, Kevin were both very nice. The only reason I’m giving it a 4 is because the room and the pool are dated. The bathrooms and floors really need updated for what they are charging per room.
Your vacation will only be as good as your fellow guests allow

Prior to my arrival management was extremely attentive and helpful regarding my stay. Every email was answered and they went out of their way to help me. Upon our arrival we were escorted to our cottage where a lovely birthday surprise was awaiting my son. Beautiful island. Well appointed, although small cottage with a lovely view. Pretty beach but it requires water shoes because of rocks. Fantastic service by Kevin on the beach. He is by far THE best employee at this resort. Pool was clean and nicely landscaped. The morning and afternoon baskets were a nice touch….the problems are with management. You are NEVER addressed by them after check in. You walk into the lobby right in front of the front desk and they ever lift their head to say hello..or ask how you’re enjoying your stay..NEVER…other reviews mentioned this and other guests noticed it…it’s as if they’ve got your money and they don’t really care….try calling the front desk. You can’t. Your call goes to an Opal operator and they transfer you. One day it took five attempts and another nine calls to get shampoo..( our maid never left shampoo???????) I resorted to buying my own shampoo…. At the beach one large group of guests played music…another used the F word in every other sentence..and the BEST was a group of women who dragged the hotel lounge chairs into the water blocking our view and our access. We told management and they did nothing. NOTHING. That tells me that all they care about is filling rooms. A luxury hotel should have all of that under control….At the bar one night a group of loud obnoxious intoxicated guests were smoking and carrying on about how they were there for free as a reward from their boss. They then said they would never pay to stay here and anyone who does is a chump…they’re insulting everyone at the bar as they smoke in our faces..my dad went to the front desk and they said there was nothing they could do…WHAT? So the hotel allows this behavior by non paying guests who will never be back as opposed to those of us we are paying guests? It was like spring break at a Motel 6. I still can’t believe it. On the last day all new people arrived and the resort was everything it should be. So I guess your vacation depends on who else is a guest. I , personally, would never trust this resort with my vacation. They do not care about the quality of your vacation. You can stay at any fabulous resort in the world for what Sunset Key costs and be treated with respect and appreciated. Try the Ocean House in Watch Hill..TheChatham Bar Inn on the Cape..La Sammana in St Martin..Acqualina in Miami..they fall all over you to,are sure you have a great stay….the only way I’d ever return here is if I found Kevin from the beach at the front desk….he knows how to treat a guest and get them to come back…

I usually don't give reviews and am hesitant to do so with Sunset Key Cottages because it was the most beautiful, quiet, clean, resort we've ever stayed at, and I really don't want it to be "discovered." Everything was done to perfection from the minute we arrived. Luggage closely attended to, warm welcome and attentive staff, daily maid service, morning and evening goodies basket left on your porch, incredible restaurant Lattitudes, beautifully manicured grounds and beach area and I could just go on and on. I also liked the way they kept foot traffic around the resort to a minimum - unless you were a resident, a guest or had a reservation at the restaurant. It felt like you had the place to yourself. We loved our stay and look forward to returning.
Great weekend getaway

Sunset key is a lovely little island. We would return but only for a couple of days. It is well manicured and very quiet. It’s only a 5 minute ride from Key West. You park your car and give your luggage at the Opal location in Key West. Service here needs some work especially with the valet. The gentlemen working the ferry were pleasant and Rob was there at the landing to greet us. We had a 2 bedroom ocean view cottage. I would definitely get an oceanfront cottage next time. The cottage was very clean and I mean very clean. I always clean when I check in and the floors were spotless. I even saw the cleaning staff with a dyson. The cottage itself has a beach theme. Rooms were well-decorated. The bathrooms need to be gutted- very outdated. The shower head read Westin- - the previous hotel owners. The beach- typical Keyes beach. You will need water shoes to get in. Clear but rocky at first. Shoutout to Rob, Kevin on the beach who took care of us and the gentlemen serving ice cream at 3pm.
