Maui Coast Hotel

Reviewed 18 august, 2021

Great hotel with a wonderful staff. Service is limited because of Covid-19. The pool is open and the restaurant is great! I stay here quite often and am never disappointed. Great location across from the beach and great restaurants are within walking distance! Give them a try on your next visit to Maui.

A wonderful Hotel

This is our second stay at this Hotel and again it did not disappoint. The rooms are spacious and so quiet that I don’t hear anyone else while in our room. The staff are all so friendly and honest. We stayed here in June and my husband accidentally left his watch there. We called the hotel and talked to housekeeping and they said that yes they found his watch and that they would mail it to us on the mainland. He was very surprised and happy to get his watch back today! Thank you to all the staff! We had an amazing vacation! We will always stay here while visiting Maui.

Different kind of stay due to Covid

Reviewed 22 may, 2021

We're returning guests to the Maui Coast Hotel so we noticed the differences from pre-Covid times. Currently, there is no concierge service, no guest shuttle, and no housekeeping services unless requested. The $25 daily resort fee includes complimentary use of the washers and dryers (new Maytags since our last visit in 2019) and parking. Our Junior suite had comp Hawaiian roast coffee packets and bottled water, and was equipped with coffee/tea maker, mini-fridge, microwave oven, and sink. Bathroom amenities included Gilchrist & Soames shampoo (but NO hair conditioner!), soap, mouthwash, and hand lotion. Ample and fluffy towels, and one can go to the front desk for beach towels. The hotel still offers a daily newspaper; there are pcs in the hotel lobby. The part we found most inconvenient is having to call for housekeeping services every day to empty wastebaskets and replenish bathroom amenities if were weren't otherwise able to catch the staff down the hall. Location is perfect -- easy access to beach across the street, Maken/Wailea, relatively close to airport and Costco (as opposed to a 45-minute drive from Kaanapali / Lahaina).

Yin and Yang

Reviewed 14 february, 2021

This is a difficult review. Multiple times things happened that could’ve been easily avoided causing some grief and frustration, however each time the hotel worked with us to remedy the situation. When we first arrived the room was located essentially in what felt like a dungeon. When the curtain was open there was a shrub wall in front of us. We kindly asked if we could be moved into a new room and when we evaluate in the new room the hallway and room smelled like marijuana. It was late and we decided to take the original first room. The following morning we were able to change to a better room. When we walked into the room, a dirty towel was sitting on the toilet from the last guest or cleaning staff. The room had a strange odor. After a while we found that there were four hamburger patties in the microwave, left for who knows how long causing the order. Location is okay. Need to walk across the street to beach. No “beach style” feel to the place. I caters to flight crew.

Resort fee another way to scam

Reviewed 2 january, 2021

Hotel is average at best. The room was nothing special and ground floor no view at all. We booked on Expedia and everything should be in the listed price to see 175$ resort fee charge for nothing is just hotels way to try and keep as much of your deposit as they can and it’s very greedy. Pools nice, restaurant is ok nothing special breakfast is cold, bathrooms small literally can’t use toilet w door open and walk around after shower to open door n dry off.
