Stayed here for the first time in October 2021 for a wedding. Was a lovely hotel. Both dinner and breakfast was lovely. Staff were very efficient and friendly at reception. Room was average, but clean.
Do not stay here €€€€€€€

I booked this hotel for a night way thinking on the price I was paying was going to be very nice to stay here but I was wrong I payed €250 for one night it didn’t even include breakfast all the hotels in Ireland are taking advantage of hard working peoples money knowing because of the pandemic it’s absolutely a disgrace it’s a sad day to say we’re Irish the Room wasn’t even nice I could of got the shelbourne for that price really disappointing never again
Odd rule for single room bookings...

Rang reservations to book a single room for Saturday the 5th of Feb 2022. First I was quizzed why I was booking the hotel. Frankly it was none of the employee's business why I had chosen the hotel. I had previously stayed in the hotel with my family and was meeting friends in Kilkenny that night so said I would try and book a room in the hotel as I had enjoyed the first stay there. Being quizzed as to why I was booking a room there was quite unprofessional. Secondly I was told I could only book a single room under a two night package. I have never heard of such a limitation before when booking any hotel room in Ireland and found the whole thing a big peculiar. At that point I decided to book elsewhere. Obviously the hotel doesn't care for solo travellers. Phonecall to reservations was made on 9th of November at 9:45am...

Stayed in this hotel in the Summer, so booked again for Halloween mid-term break...very disappointed. Had a package with two evening meals, one of my older kids is a vegetarian and she got either duck or chicken spring rolls instead of vegetable as ordered, my steak was meant to be medium but came tough and well-done, miserly adult desserts, overpowering garlic in carbonara, and on & on....they must of had a chef change (and hired a student) Gave an extra star because the customer facing staff were excellent.
No bath in ensuite! Nice pool.

Stayed for 3 nights with my wife and 3 kids ages 7, 7 and 9. Biggest disappointment was no bath in the bathroom. There is a spacious rain forest type shower, but as a bath lover, had I known in advance, I wouldn't have booked. We tried to change room but we're told all family rooms only have a shower. The good: Lovely spacious pool which the kids loved Good sized bedroom - double bed, two proper singles and a fold out single Spacious rain forest type shower Nice breakfast - especially the pancakes Friendly staff Plenty of parking Kids loved 'exploring' as it's a big hotel The bad: No bath in bathroom No lifeguard at the pool We got the room made up once and neither bin was emptied No booking needed for swimming - good in theory but we went down one evening in damp swimwear (from a morning swim) to be told we'd have to come back 20 min later. At our last breakfast, tea coffee and toast didn't arrive until the second ask and then we got two teas instead of a tea and coffee - but was promptly sorted The toilets in the gents 'public' toilets near reception were disgraceful on two occasions I visited even though they had been 'checked' just minutes before on one occasion. Was asked to pay in full on arrival, something I can't ever remember being asked at any hotel I ever stayed in - by all means, take a pre authorization but not full payment for a service that has not yet been provided No Netflix in room Room was quite cool during the day (but perfect at night when there is nothing worse than a too warm room) One of our keys didn't work and later another one stopped working - promptly addressed by reception on both occasions. Burger ordered in the bar was burnt - foolishly I ate half of it as I was starving - I should have sent it back so I have to share the blame on that one.
