Wonderful Hotel!
My husband stayed at this hotel Oct. 22nd & 23rd, 2020 on a business trip. We had the room reserved for 3 nights but due to finishing the job early, we were able to check out around 3:00 on Saturday instead of 12:00 on Sunday. Since we had the room reserved for 3 nights & we did not ask the front desk for a late check out on Saturday, we had assumed that we would be charged for the 3rd night (Saturday night) even though we were checking out early. We were both fine with that, we could have stayed 1more night but wanted to get back home & were willing to pay for Saturday night even if we weren’t going to be staying there. When my husband checked out at the front desk he never mentioned that we were checking out early or about the additional night. He realized they did not charge us for the additional night per our reservations, or even a late check out charge when he read over the receipt! That was a very pleasant surprise & a very nice thing for them to do!! Also their boxed breakfast (due to COVID restrictions) was awesome! They went above & beyond for us as guests! Due to this experience, we will always look for a Hampton Inn when traveling (business or pleasure) & if there is not one, then we will stay at a Hilton owned property from this point on! Thank you so much for your hospitality especially during these trying times with all the restrictions in place!

Hampton Inn / Hilton is doing a disservice by allowing people to book online for this hotel that has been closed for a year. We did receive an email about a week ahead of our stay to inform us of its unavailability. However, given the scarcity of accommodations in Kinston (good or otherwise), it was very inconvenient. There seems to be no visible indication of progress on the "remodeling", by the way.
Hotel Closed -- Failed to Notify Me
I also made a reservation months before a significant event in Kinston for the last weekend in October, and after receiving emails saying the hotel was excited for my stay that week, I showed up around 9pm that night to find the hotel completely dark. I couldn't believe it, so I called Hilton. AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW THE HOTEL WAS CLOSED! It is an extremely poor system in place where people with reservations do not receive notice that their reservations have been canceled and that they now have no where to stay. I have generally stayed at this hotel when I visit Kinston, but this last visit was too much of a hassle. I almost had to cut short my weekend and miss the event I had already paid for because I could not find a local hotel for the entire weekend. I am very disappointed at the Hampton Inn and Hilton because of this experience. The same way I received two emails about my upcoming reservation, I easily could have been notified of the hotel closing and avoided all of this unnecessary trouble.
Hotel Closed - Didn’t notify me.
Reserved a room at the Hampton Inn in Kinston, NC on Labor Day weekend. Was visiting the Chef and Farmer in Kinston for a special birthday dinner with my sister on October 27th. I received a reminder about my booking the week before the stay was planned. Got an email about a digital key the morning of the reservation. I arrived in Kinston a couple hours before our dinner reservation to find the Hotel closed for renovation. It had obviously been damaged in hurricane Florence last month. The local hotel phone number on my confirmation was disconnected. When I called Hilton customer service, hopeful that maybe I had the wrong address, the customer service rep was also unaware the hotel was closed and as dumbfounded as I was. I was lucky to find a room at a Holiday Inn Express at the last minute as several hotels were damaged and others were full. I was close to being stranded with plans for a special occasion ruined. Can’t believe Hilton didn’t notify me of the closing and continued to send emails as if nothing were wrong.
Drove Up to Find it Closed!!!!!
Walked into a open front door to find the place in shambles and a full on construction project in process. I was texted at least three times in the last three days to check in early? Check in to what? Sad really when the reservations line knows nothing. We only found out it was closed when we saw the backside of open doors against the walls. I called and had to drive the Greenville for a room at twice the price. I feel bad but also want to warn any others showing up with kids or elderly. I did call corporate to make sure this does not happen again and they tried to make it right. Do not show up here until mid-December.
