Best spot on Koh Lipe
Location, location, location. Mountain Resort has the best views on Koh Lipe, and is a short walk up and down stairs to the nicest beach. The water is as clear as you'll see anywhere, and there's a nice house reef for snorkeling. The spot is spectacular. Staff are super friendly and helpful, and the owner a very nice guy, if you can speak Thai. The restaurant is quite good on both Thai and western dishes. I've traveled in Thailand for 25 years, and this is the best spot for chilling I know of.

Trust the bad reviews
Never would we have dreamt that we are willing to forgo ~16,000 thai baht for room booking and search for alternative in the middle of the night. It was fine when we checked into rooms 6401 and 6402. Though the rooms and toilets were dirty, we decided to live with it. After all, we had already paid for the rooms and had some indication on what to expect from previous reviews. The mosquitoes were unbearable. Nonetheless, we got some mosquito coils from the walking street during our dinner and prepared ourselves for the night. The real disaster came when we went back to the room after dinner. There was a swamp of flies in the room and on the bed even though we have locked the door when we went out. The shower area in the toilet was the worst. There was a colony of big black ants crawling around. There was no way you could have went into the toilet. My 2 year old was terrified, crying hysterically at the corner of the room. We didn’t sign up for a stay at the amazon forest. There was no way we, or my son could have stayed in the room. We went to the reception and request for a change of room but was rejected, the excuse being that there no rooms available. Clearly if you looked around the whole day while we were there and at night when we returned, you would have agreed how deserted this flophouse was. Subsequently we even checked booking.com and there was still an available room at this place. A bad lie is just not cool. After rejecting our request to change rooms, they sent a staff to our room armed with 2 cans of Baygon. There was no way we could continue to stay so we started calling other resorts for vacancy. And very fortunately, we found ten moons resort. To be fair, we didn’t had any food or use the pool so we cannot comment much on the public amenities. But the condition of the room was not live-able, especially if you are traveling as a family. Stay away at all cost.
Amazing
I never met more serviceminded, nicer staff in my life. Nothing was a problem, and they did what ever they could to meet our needs, Even when we didnt know we needed it. Was there whit a toddler and the rest of the big family from 18-75 years old. Everyone was super pleased. The best beach, best staff and you get drived to walking street whenever you want. We are coming back For sure. Only negative things are mosquitos and bad light in the dining area, some green plants and lanterns would do the trick :)
Amazing location
We, a family of five with three teenagers, stayed at Mountain resort Koh Lipe over Christmas and had a great time. The resort is located at the most beautiful beach on Koh Lipe. It is amazingly beautiful, surprisingly calm and is good for swimming also on low tide (this is not so much the case for sunrise beach at least, not sure about the other beaches). The beach is on the northern tip of the island and you can enjoy the sun in the morning as well as the sunset in the evening. There are no taxi boats here, which makes the place so much more relaxed than Sunrise beach and Pattaya beach. The beach has shady areas and sun beds for the resort guests and good massage for 400-500 bath (1 hour). The walking street with all the shops and most of the restaurants is 15 minutes walking from the resort, but between 6-10pm there is a shuttle car going back and forth to transport guests. We stayed in a family villa, with quite spacious rooms on two levels. The rooms were clean, there was only cold water but as the bathroom is separated from the air conditioned room this was no problem at all. And the water isn’t really cold anyway. We had access to a fast and reliable wi-fi in the whole resort, even on the beach. The extra mattress they put in the children’s room was however very, very hard, and uncomfortable. The staff is very friendly and service minded. The only thing on the negative side for this resort is the restaurant. You have an amazing view from it, but they haven’t really used its potential. The breakfast is ok, you get eggs/omelette made while waiting, salads, some curries and basic bread and marmelades. However, when we had breakfast around 9am most of the food (that was supposed to be warm) was cold. You do get lunch and dinner there as well, but the restaurant is mostly empty outside breakfast. It might seem like the owners have given up on the competition from the walking street and assume everyone wants to go there. That’s a shame, with some more atmosphere in the restaurant I think many more guests would use it. But all in all a great place!
