More about the hotel
Nice hotel with lovely staff
We loved our stay here and the rooms were good. The beds were more comfortable then they usually are in Greece. The pool area was good and the woman how worked in the bar was super friendly and helpful! The only negative thing about this hotel is the extra costs for the ac, safety box and fridge. The price was a bit high for all those things. Don’t think you should have to pay for the fridge.
Excellent Base
As if a small village of accommodations, low rise blocks of rooms each with their own external door onto private terrace or balcony, are set in beautiful gardens. The hotel has an excellent, good sized, fresh water pool with plenty of sun beds and shade, as well as a friendly pool bar. The rooms are a good size, clean and comfortable. Use of Fridge and Air con. both come with an additional charge, but Wi-fi is free and fairly strong all about the site. The shower room is a ‘wet room’ but a good size and kept very clean. Breakfast consists of a fair choice of hot and cold foods and is plentiful. Service from all staff is warm, welcoming, friendly and helpful. The entrance to this fabulous setting is just a few steps across the road to the waters edge and the pebble beach. Also on the door step are shops (a mini market immediately next door) a couple of bars (quiet- as the tables & chairs are beach side) are directly opposite and plenty more bars and tavernas along the water front all within strolling distance. All in all an excellent choice of accommodation in Kokkari, a beautiful gem of a place.
Lovely pool bar with excellent and friendly service
We were staying in a holiday home nearby and for a few days wanted to be by a pool and the Athena was recommended to us and it was fantastic so we spent a few very pleasant afternoons there. Elias was our attentive barman who made a mean Mojito and we loved his music selection! A very nice pool with amazing views. You have to walk through the hotel and past rooms and the place looked very clean and well run with plenty of staff.
Lots of insects, load noises, 2 Euro per night for a small fridge & mob mentality
My husband and I were there for three weeks and were initially delighted by the room and the warm welcome we received. Sadly we were to be disappointed again and again. The first week we found ourselves near the front of the hotel where every noisy drunken person passed by late at night shouting and slamming doors until the early hours of the morning. We were told we could not move room until the following week. The room was a bit bigger but the noise problem continued. We felt uncomfortable with the way customers from a seelective nationality were having what appeared to be special treatment in the breakfast room. Not that we wanted to be fussed over but this blatant favouritism was ugly to watch. Then after being plagued by all sorts of flying insects in our room ants and mosquitoes, big flies etc we were hit with the bill for the fridge - apparently it's noted in the holiday information sheet you are given when you arrive! We would avoid this hotel like the plague in the future.
Just perfect
Great location, the rooms are clean, and very good for the category/price, though they can be a bit dark, depending on which room you get! The breakfast is included, a bit basic, but again, for most it will be more than enough! Best thing about this hotel is the nice pool, and the location right across the street from the beach! It's not in the city center, but you can get there by walking for 5 minutes! So all in all, a perfect week!
