Crazily cool chateau
We stayed here for 2 nights in early August. We wanted somewhere we could eat as well as we didn't want to roam about much given the covid situation. We had amazing rooms which are quirky but very spacious. Our food was prepared by the lady who owns the house and she is a fab cook. Also, quite a bit of the fruit and veg is grown here in their amazing gardens. We had two fabulous meals here including a cheese course to die for. They have a good choice of wine. We spent most of our one full day there lazing by the lovely pool and walking down to the river which is a 20 min stroll. This is a lovely place.
Fantastic Discovery
Staying in a Chateau, hosted by the owners, fed from their garden, the list of excellent things to say about Chateau du Plessis is a long one. Suffice to say that the welcome from the family, the food and accommodation were all wonderful.
Stunning tranquility
It helps that the owners Valerie and Laurent are car enthusiasts but our welcome could not have been warmer. Treated as friends rather than customers we had this beautiful chateau to treat as a home. Cocktails & nibbles were served in front of the chateau by Valerie, followed by a delicious meal in their impressive dining room. Along with our party of six there were three others and seated around the dining table it felt more like a country house party than restaurant. The wines are interesting and varied and the majority of the food came from their own gardens. The bedrooms are beautifully appointed and again the feel is of a private stately home, not a hotel. Utterly tranquil. After breakfast, and having settled our bill, Laurent happily offered coffees to us as we prepared our cars, no question of asking us to pay, we really did feel like guests, not customers.
Amazing
I cannot recommend this B&B enough! It’s just wonderful! Spacious, comfortable rooms. Gorgeous grounds (we were lazy one day and just went swimming in the pool and read under the trees). Fabulous hosts. Valérie is incredible! You should definitely have her cook dinner — everything was fresh from her gardens! The nicest meal we had in the Loire.
Marvelous
Everything about Chateau du Plessis was marvelous. The hostess made us feel like members of her family, and gave us wonderful suggestions of things to do in the area that we were not aware of. The dinners, cooked by our hostess, were as good as any that we had in France, and better than most. The room was large, quiet, and had a very comfortable bed. The grounds were good places to walk, and the goats, chickens, and ducks were very entertaining. Our visit there was wonderful.
