Perfect Location, Lovely Stay
Our original trip was to Cabo, then we rented a car and drove 2 hours to La Paz for an overnight stay. We stayed at Hotel Perla and it was perfect for us. It's right on the main road of La Paz and our room overlooked the Malecon and ocean and had a small balcony which was lovely. We arrived and parked in the small parking lot. After checking in, the parking lot attendant took our car to a safe parking area. We even had to leave bright and early (5:30am) the next day and the attendant was there available to bring our car to us. Check in was very easy and the front desk were extremely nice and kept our luggage for us while we adventured out and until our room was ready. The room was extremely comfortable. The A/C ran cool and the bed was firm. It was also quiet but a curfew of 9p.m. was in place at the time we were there due to Covid. There is a restaurant attached with delicious food and a convenience store on the next block. There are plenty of shopping and points of interest to see around the hotel. The hotel has been around quite a while and has a nostalgic charm to it. If you want to stay at a high end resort, that's down the street away from everything and you'll have to drive to experience the charm of La Paz. If you want to step out of your hotel into the charm that is La Paz, this place is for you.
Great location, but not perfect
We came to this hotel as the price/location ratio was the best of the ones we looked at. I have to say the location is amazing, right in the middle of all the attractions, bars and restaurants. The hotel itself looks and feel old. The rooms and general areas are clean and tidy, but everything seems like it hasn't been moved since 1991. If you want fair prices and to stay in the heart of La Paz, this is a nice place to stay at.
La Paz 4 day stay
Absolutely great location. Rooms are simple but that was fine considering the location. Beds were comfortable. Staff was very friendly, parking tight but they park your car. Restaurant was next door, got our pot of coffee from them before we went there for breakfast. Beautiful view from restaurant. Good food. Great walking around town. There is an illusion that you think you are on the Pacific side, due to the bay. We plan to visit here again.
Best hotel location in La Paz!
Having read other reviews, we went prepared! The room was very clean & spacious for my hubby, teen daughter & myself with 2 beds. Air con, fan, safe & mini fridge, which was great. I brought facecloths, a hand towel & conditioner etc that they don’t provide. If you need it, just bring it. We didn’t bother leaving a deposit for a tv remote, as the front desk explained there were few English channels. There were many wifi links, which worked better depending on where you were in the hotel. All use the same password which made it easy. Overall, the wifi was excellent. The pool was super cold, but the general weather there in January was pretty chilly of about +15C in the day. Tons of restaurants & bars nearby to chose from. We used the free breakfast several times, & just upgraded it to get more. We never had a problem with the limited parking, as the valet did an amazing job of moving the cars around so we never waited long to get ours. Yes it’s loud at night, you are on the Malecon (party zone) & not the hotel’s fault. We all slept with ear buds! Staff was great!
Avoide like SARS or the plague
Our bad experience began at check in with a rude and surly desk clerk. Our room was poorly cleaned and right next to the pool with tables for other guests right beside our window. The phone and a lamp did not work and complaining to the front desk brought a “so what am I supposed to do?” from the clerk. Since the phone did not work I went to the restaurant for take out. On returning to the room the food was cold despite the fact that I was the only one in the restaurant. We were supposed to stay for two nights but left after one. We declined the included breakfast which was cold toast and coffee. Never again. Be warned.
