Wonderful
We stayed one night at Colori di Mag. Very warm welcome, the people are so kind and helpful. We were provided with all the necessary information to visit the Cinque Terre (map, train schedule, nearest restaurants and supermarket). The room is super clean, beds and pillows are just perfect and the air conditioner makes your night a dream. Finally we enjoyed a very nice breakfast with delicious coffee, pastries, cereals as well as cheese and meat.. No need to continue searching for and other place this is definitely the best one to enjoy Cinque Terre.
Simple and great stay!
We had a great stay in I Colori di Mag (orange room) with a spacious and clean room, comfortable bed, and a huge window for fresh air to enter! The entire place was clean and breakfast was good! There was good spread of items for breakfast and always a hot cup of coffee to start the day with! Although slightly further from the train station to cinque terre, the walk was still easy and nice in the November weather. Host was kind enough to recommend dining options and one of them turned out to have the best pasta di mare we ever had and could have! Love that there was private parking in the garage too, everything was great!
David is fantastic
David was there to greet us on our arrival, super friendly and really really helpful. He made our Cinque Terra trip so easy. He provided us maps, time tables, pricing and explained and wrote everything down for us to make our following day trip to Cinque Terra the easiest trip ever. He provided so much information about the walking tracks between the towns that we had no issues getting around or finding things. He also provided us a map of La Spezia and marked how to walk to the station, where the bus stops are and made restaurant recommendations for dinner places, which were hands down some of the best food we had travelling through Italy. The breakfast in the morning was lovely a great variety to choose from between cereal, bread, cheese, meats, cakes and tarts and plenty of juice, tea and coffee. The room we had (yellow) was cute and cosy, it was small but had everything you needed, there was also a common area where you could help yourself to tea, coffee and water at any hour. I did find Federica not as helpful as David and was a bit frustrating that on check out she would only accept cash to cover breakfast for the 2 days, which i was previously not advised of as i don't usually travel with cash it was lucky that i had just enough. I think a pre-warning on check in of this would be welcomed for others in my situation.
Nice B&B, odd work hours
My wife and I were able to get an earlier train from Florence thinking that we’ll have more time to know Cinque Terra towns. I called from the train to see if we can leave the luggage in the property. They told me that they will close from 12:30 PM to 6:00 PM. I said that our train was scheduled to arrive at 12:20 PM, and they said again “we will close at 12:30 PM”. They did not offer the shuttle that it is mentioned in some hotels websites, and they did not offer to stay open a little longer for us to receive our luggage. We had to carry our luggage around town until 6:00 PM, before going to the first town of Cinque Terra. Breakfast was simple but fine.
Couldn't be more helpful
We stayed here for 2 nights in July 2019. We are backpacking for two weeks across Italy and France and so we are travelling by train, bus and on foot. I think most guests here have cars and so the location is ideal for them. For us it is further from the centre than we usually choose - but this didn't turn out to be a bad thing. We arrived a by trains a few hours before check in. (check in is 18:00-20:00) but for €5 you can leave your luggage at the train station left baggage office) whilst you explore and collect it when you're ready (as long as it is before 20:00). The hotel owners highlighted some local restaurants we could try which were a short walk away and the food was excellent and much, much cheaper than in the centre. The hotel owners couldn't do enough for us. When they found out we were doing cinque Terra they gave us 2 bus tickets to help us on our way. The second night there was a terrible storm, but we were able to order pizza using deliveroo to the room. It was still raining heavily the morning when we checked out and so the owners father gave us a lift to the train station so we wouldn't get soaked on the 20 minute walk. Really lovely people who couldn't do more to help. We paid the additional €5 for breakfast due to the location of the hotel and we were not disappointed there is a good range of simple breakfast food and freshly prepared cappuccino etc.. My only criticism would be that the laundry detergent used on the bedding is heavily scented which for sensitive skin like mine caused some irritation on the first night. But this was easily solved the second night by putting a t-shirt over the pillow.
