As regular visitors to lovely Praia da Luz, we've stayed in various accommodations and tried here for the first time based on good reviews. Friends decided to join us and they didn’t have the problems that we had, so perhaps we were just very unlucky. We checked in on arrival with possibly the most unhelpful receptionist we’ve ever encountered. We asked where we could leave our cases until our room was ready and he pointed to an open area in reception (our friends dealing with another receptionist were offered a locked luggage room). We asked for a safe and signed for the cost of 22.50 euros for our 10 day stay. We were given very vague directions to our room, through underground car park to lift. (Our friends were actually shown to their room by their receptionist). We wandered round the car park, found a lift but couldn’t find our room. Back down to where we started from, a gardener found us looking lost and took us back into car park but to a different lift and showed us our room. There was no information on how to use the safe so had to phone reception. The unhelpful receptionist actually came to our room with a sheet of instructions, saying I hadn’t waited for them as he was too busy at the time to give me them. While he was there, I was able to report the cupboard door in bathroom had fallen off as I opened it. Good enough, maintenance fixed that quite quickly. However, we then discovered a blocked sink in bathroom, but that took 2 days to clear the problem. We were handed a sheet regarding days when maid service would be provided. This didn’t happen so we told reception and in response the maids arrived the next day - while we having a nap on bed wearing very little clothing. We jumped up to throw some clothes on to open the door, but obviously not quickly enough as 3 maids just let themselves in. Nor did they arrive on the day they were due the 2nd time, we reported it so again they arrived a day late. We had maid service twice, our friends were lucky enough to have their maid service 4 times and on the correct days. As regards the studio apartment we had, on the plus side it was a decent size with big balcony and a pleasant view, not overlooked. (We had to ask for it to be cleared of the rubbish from the tree that was cut down just outside on the day of our arrival). We had a big kitchen which was very well equipped with cooking utensils, plenty of glasses, cutlery etc. Big fridge freezer. However, part of the studio living area had been partitioned off to make a very small bedroom. So small and cell like, that we had to clamber over the twin beds to get into them. Not easy when you’re in your seventies. As some compensation for our various problems, the manager arranged complimentary breakfast for the remainder of our stay. Breakfast staff were very pleasant. Loved the fresh orange juice and pancakes. To sum up, the complex itself is lovely, the garden areas are very well tended and we saw the gardening staff working hard each day to maintain them. The pool areas were spacious and kept clean and tidy. Security was very good as gates only opened with our key cards. Good location, close to beach and plenty of excellent restaurants in the surrounding area. Without the problems we encountered, this review could have been very different.
Very bad service at check in

We've arrived 30 minutes before 15pm and the person in reception says our room was not ready yet. She says also that due to COVID they are not alowed to keep our luggage at any place after just showing our vaccine certificate and negative antigenos tests. They do not have lunch service and so far we've been more than 1h for checking in. Very bad... we'll see if something improves because we are hosted for 1week here
Great Stay at Hotel Belavista da Luz

I had a great stay at the Belavista da Luz. The Hotel and room were spotlessly clean. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Due to COVID19 restrictions the hotel could not offer all the facilities available (sauna, games room, etc) but the staff did their best to make our stay very pleasant. The food was good although I would imagine that it would have had more variety in the past when the hotel was able to offer a buffet dinner and breakfast.
Calm amongst the madness

Breakfast generous choice of cooked and continental.very clean and well maintained- 2 pools and poolside bar. Close to beautiful centre of Luz , restaurants and beach , tho the road back up is steep ( I had a car) . Really enjoyed my stay - quieter than normal with Covid , lovely staff

We enjoyed a short visit here and found the hotel to be very clean and comfortable. We appreciated the warm, friendly and efficient service provided by the reception staff who were meticulous in sanitizing everything from the pen to the card machine, and also ensuring guests adhered to Covid precautions. The hotel has a large car park and spacious grounds, and our room was a good size overlooking the pool and sea. We will stay here again on our next visit. Thankyou Hotel Belavista da Luz.
