Disappointing
This is the third time we have stayed here and sad to say it will be the last. The apartments are simply not being maintained and are very tired. The air conditioning in the bedroom did not work, looked at the following day but they could not get it working so we managed with a fan. Reception never got back to us and we had to request the fan.Lamp in the bedroom smashed, plug socket on wall faceplate missing. All the plastic hooks in the bathroom broken, nowhere to hang and dry towels which were changed every 3 days. Bedding changed every 6 days so we had clean bedding on our last night, strange only every 6 days. We love Lagos but will be looking for accommodation elsewhere.
ok stay
arrived on sunday at about 12 noon, after travelling through the night and a 2 hour transfer we just wanted to get in the room and freshen up then go for an explore. was told the room wouldnt be ready until 3 and they would call us if it was ready any earlier. never received a call so had to chase them up at 3 to see if room was ready. surely they must be aware what time guests are estimated to arrive from a package holiday and have the room ready accordingly? apart from that staff were friendly. we went to the poolside for 3 hours to sit until our room was available, we couldnt really go explore as we would have had to lug our cases all over the cobbled hilly streets, as they said they couldnt store our cases in a secure room "because of covid". poor excuse really, just clean more often perhaps like everywhere says they are doing so much more stringently? glad we werent having to check out early with a late transfer then? wanted a drink but think the barman was away on lunch he didnt turn up for ages. again parched from a long journey. pool area nice but not many sunbeds out, mainly stacked up in a storeroom (covid?) but we could always get one when needed, probably as it was later in the season. when we finally got our apartment, found it to be nice and spacious and mostly cool, but dark as it was on ground floor and out terrace faced the carpark. the apartments could do with a bit of love. the aircon in the bedroom didnt work, even though there was a unit in the living room which fortunately cooled the whole apartment. settee could be made into a bed settee and the front of it had been broken off. free hotel wifi could only be accessed in communal areas like pool and reception, so have to use your own data in your apartment. safe 2 euros per day cleaned daily but there were still quite a few ants about the kitchen and bathroom. luckily none in the bedroom. terrace had a washing line to hang wet towels etc. the kitchen could have been better equipped in terms of kitchen utensils/pots/pans, we didnt need any ashtrays (there were 2) or sugar pots but could have done with more coffee mugs and saucepans, thins like that. also there was no oven, just a microwave and 2 small burners, and a kettle that didnt work so needed to be replaced. the lack of oven restricted us in what we could cook, so we mainly just did breakfast and ate out the rest of the time. the fridge was large and cold enough to keep everything cool. good job we didnt plan doing much more there than sleeping and washing! beds not the comfiest but didnt let it spoil the trip. good location on a hill, 20 minute walk to beaches and the town. a small supermarket across the road and a few others a walk away. plenty of places to eat and drink nearby facilities said there was a shuttle bus to town, but we never saw one! again probably 'because of covid'
Excellent apartment!
We stayed in the Jasmin apartment within the Villa Branca complex and can not recommend this enough! The apartment was beautifully presented, spacious and well equipped. Upstairs comprises of two separate bedrooms, each with its own en suite and a shared balcony. Downstairs has a separate living space, downstairs toilet and a separate kitchen. Downstairs leads out onto a large terrace which overlooks the pool. The apartment is really nice and I would definitely go back there again.
Great value for money
Given what I paid for this I felt it was great value for money. The room(s) I stayed in were huge. I'm not used to having a separate living room on holiday! All of it was spotless, although slightly tired in some places. Daily floor cleaning and bed making. The kitchen was well equipped, with a cooker, kettle, microwave and toaster. All the staff I encountered were very friendly. Good location, reasonably quiet, but walkable to the places I wanted to visit and there was a well stocked supermarket opposite the location. The only negative when I was (w/c 14th October) that the pool by the bit I was in seemed to be in the process of closing up for winter. I was told on arrival that the pool bar was already closed, and gradually during the week most of the sunbeds were put away. This didn't affect my holiday, but if I had been staying for longer than 5 nights I would have disappointed with this, and would have liked to have been aware of this before making my booking. So its worth checking before booking what facilities are available if you are booking on the edge of season and this sort of thing is important to you.
Enjoyable Stay.
Having spent last week at the Vilabranca in Lagos with my family I was very happy with our stay there. The complex has too fine pools and also a paddling pool for little children. Our room was a good size with a balcony where one could eat breakfast or lunch although it could have done with a little paint job. Towels were changed daily and the rooms cleaned. The staff at reception were always on hand to help out and very friendly. There was also a snack bar near the pool that served drinks and food daily. I must mention Paula who was an excellent host and looked after us during our stay. The Vilabranca is especially suited for families as the grounds are spacious and well back from the roadway. Some of the rooms could do with a makeover but other than that we really enjoyed our week there. We will certainly return.
