EXTRAORDINARY RESORT

Reviewed 7 march, 2023

Best resort stay we have ever experienced. From pick up at the Porto airport for a 6 day stay through to drop off at train station, everything was perfect. The personnel at this hotel is extraordinary. Each person introduces themself to you. Jenny at the front desk, all of the food and beverage service personnel especially Romana, Juãn, Manuel, Tiago and so many more. The housekeeping staff is efficient and pleasant. A request is made and promptly implemented. Rooms are nicely designed, spacious and clean. The whole resort is spotless and well maintained. Ample spaces inside and out to enjoy the property. The property has beautiful trails and views of the Duoro Valley and surrounding mountains. Plenty of free events to attend and enjoy. Easy to arrange transportation to Lamego to tour this nearby medieval town. The fitness facility has top equipment and is clean. The spa is very special and treatments are world class (Raquel). The nutrient rich food served here is sourced from the property, is perfectly prepared and creatively served at every meal. The menu varied daily. Wine tastings were informative and you are able to easily order for shipment to US. Totally worth the money to stay here. Many thanks to the staff for making our stay so very memorable. Your efforts were totally appreciated and we think you are each wonderful.

Best place in the world, six senses douro valley

Reviewed 28 february, 2023

This review is not going to do this place justice. You have to experience Six Senses for yourself. The resort is unmatched. What really makes this place special is the people. The entire staff was beyond courteous and treated us like we were the only people there. Shout out to Joao who works in the bar, super guy making super drinks. He was a highlight for our trip. Anyone want to know more dont hesitate to ask.

Amazing hotel with stunning views

Reviewed 30 december, 2022

The hotel and the service are really top notch! Once you’ve entered the hotel, it rather feels as if you were in one of their properties within South East Asia instead of being within the middle of Europe - very relaxing and completely disconnected from the world. The hotel itself is located very beautifully in the middle of the Douro Valley, overlooking the river. The food itself is also really, really good - though they could maybe offer some simpler food options such as Pizza or Pasta. We stayed here for a few days in August and at first, we were really worried that it might be a little bit too boring but the hotel itself offered so many activities inside and outside of the hotel that these worries vanished very quickly. Depending on what you want to do, you can also just easily book the hotel shuttle and not rent your own car (depends on your preferences).

Views for Days

Reviewed 24 december, 2022

Wow - everything from the rooms to the staff to the good to the views was excellent. Only was here for one night but actually was good as a stopover between Porto and Lisbon. Definitely would recommend it. Did the cooking class which was more like a private lunch in the kitchen (and we enjoyed that more) - the chefs were amazing, so passionate. Even allowed us a behind the scenes tour of the immaculate professional kitchen. Had dinner at the restaurant - played chess in the bar… perfect overnight. Our room was gorgeous- we had a vineyard premier with amazing views perfect for a snooze on the balcony.

We visited during the summer which was our first trip out of the states since COVID. We were first skeptical because it looks super fancy and high-end we thought is this really the big deal? YES. It was, Every single person from reservations to concierge team to restaurant and even the housekeeping staff were just top notch friendly and attentive! Spa team was amazing almost didn't feel like we left home! Special shoutout to Rosanna from breakfast (excellent attitude, even better smile such a gem), Mikayla (knows the ins & outs of treatments will suggest the best for you also another gem!) from Spa, Shanna from the front desk assisted with multiple requests (super personable, warm attitude and intelligent!) We will come back next year!! Side note; Choose the 5th or 6th floors. We had a beautiful valley view it´s worth the money!
