What a dump!
The room was dirty, old and outdated. The pool didn’t have pool service for drinks or food. We felt stranded in a cheap motel. This was far from the level of a Waldorf Astoria and we have stayed at a few. This hotel should be closed u too the remodel is done as all it is doing now is hurting your brand. Now we can’t count on the Waldorf always be our go to hotel around the world. We left immediately after seeing what a dump it was. You should be ashamed for charging full price for a 2 star experience.
Phenomenal Stay at a Wonderful Property
Stay Report - 4/9 to 4/11 Location: The hotel is located at the Aria Complex which as I've long felt is in a weird dead zone in Las Vegas. The area between New York, New York and Caesars feels very strange. Across LV Blvd is a huge cluster of strip mall type shops and fast food restaurants. On the good news department there's a 24 Hour CVS right next door. There used to be a Starbucks and a burger place next door as well but they're currently closed. The good news is that while Las Vegas in generally crowded right now and not always with the kind of people you might not want to be around, the hotel is set back from the strip and has no casino so it's very quiet and exclusive. Hotel: The hotel itself was the Mandarin Oriental and I believe opened in 2009. It looks very nice from the outside as well as the inside. The entrance is at ground level and their valet and concierge are located here. There are a restaurant and a cafe on the 3rd floor and this is also a transfer point to the guest elevators. The pool, spa and fitness center are on the 8th floor. They are all open though the fitness center and spa keep weird hours so it's best to check ahead of time. Check in and the bar are on the 27th floor. Check In: Excellent service at check in and by everyone else associated with the hotel. I was thanked for being Diamond, given two waters, all the property info I needed and generally treated as one should be at a luxury hotel. Room: Very nice. About what I've experienced at Asian Conrads. I find it rare I get a true luxury room in the US but this time I felt the hotel delivered. The bed was large and comfortable and the TV also large. There was a work area and desk which I appreciate and an absolutely beautiful bathroom. There is also daily maid service. Dining: As a Diamond I got a $25 daily property credit. There's a restaurant and cafe on the 3rd floor. The sit down part is by reservations only. I just got grab and go. Do note the restaurants are not open weekdays right now. Overall, an excellent stay. A rare time I truly have zero complaints.
Disappointed
We had stayed in this property two weeks prior and had a great experience, however On the second stay, the staff was not very helpful, restaurants were closed, there was no service for food or drink even at the pool - overall a disappointing experience. Rooms were fine although our shower door wouldn’t close and leaked water.
Premium Customer Service
After reading reviews from a hotel we were going to stay at (for free) we changed reservations to the Waldorf. Best decision ever. As an avid traveler, I have visited many hotels. This one stands above all, not only for the cleanliness, ambiance and location, but for simply the Customer Care! The little things, the eagerness to make a personal connection with guests. Plus, they have great regular brew coffee. I wish I had taken all of the names of the wonderful staff that took such great care of us. One name does stand out, Alex, thank you for your friendliness and you do make coffee better than any fancy chain cafe! And the free bottled water was appreciated after walking around all day. I will make it a point to book at the Waldorf every time I return to Vegas. Manager, please read this to the staff. I hope you are proud. Thank you for what you do.
Not what was expected
When you think of Waldorf Astoria words like grand, opulence..luxury is what pops into mind. I was super excited about our upcoming stay and am sad to say it did not meet my expectations. I checked in the day before on the app as I have done hundreds of times for other stays at other locations but when I arrived at 4:30pm my room was not ready, which happens so not a big deal yet. I travel a lot and with diamond status I’m usually streamlined through and I’m not gonna lie I have been spoiled by that so it did suck waiting for another hour before I was able to get into my room. The staff are very nice, very helpful. They texted multiple times to check in, I’m a texter so that was excellent. The SkyBar is really cool, loved the view. Great staff, super friendly, remembered us each time we showed up for our evening cocktails, which is really great. The rooms are just ok. I was really not impressed for it being the Waldorf. Again it’s the name that screams elegance. They look just like every other Hilton I have stayed in, which is fine for a Hilton. I mean Hilton is my hotel of choice. The rooms weren’t super clean. The coffee service brought to the room had paper or something on the stir spoon and there was some Kleenex on the floor by the window, totally not touching that. The bathroom, while the design is cool looking, is really not realistic. My husband and I have been married 30 years and while I love him dearly I do not want to see him sitting on a toilet in the morning, I’m just saying. Maybe consider at least tinting the glass door of the toilet more than the little it is. While the location was great, would I stay here again? Probably not.
