Cozy and comfortable
We stayed here while on our fall foliage trip. The hotel was cozy and comfortable. The fireplace is really nice. The room is a little dated but it was clean. The wearing of masks was enforced which was good to see. Breakfast was served which was a welcome change. You ordered off a menu. The choices were good. We enjoyed our stay.
Needs updates desperately
My first impression as we walked in the lobby with the floor to ceiling fireplace was very nice . The room is another story . As soon as we opened the door to the room it smelled very musty . The bathroom has a chipped tub with stains that look like they have been there for years . The bathroom floor was dirty around the toilet and under the vanity . Please be sure to wear flip flops in there . The rug is old and worn and rooms are very drab and dark . We stayed Friday to Sunday and were given one voucher for breakfast so you are on your own if you stay more than one night . The breakfast was just mediocre with very small portions . After getting home on Sunday all of my clothing had to be washed including my duffle bag as it smelled awful from the musty room. If you have allergies or asthma be sure to bring what is necessary for meds as my eyes were beet red the entire time from the musty room. The complimentary coffee in the lobby was always empty as well. I would not recommend staying here.
Cozy Digs and Friendly Atmosphere
My experience at this hotel was very pleasant! I was checked in by an older gentleman (maybe James?) who was helpful with my question about the hotel, and had some good food suggestions as well. The lobby area reminds me a rustic lodge, with a large and REAL fireplace and lots of wood. Behind that is a dining area with equally tall ceilings and an indoor/outdoor vibe. There are a couple of ponds with coy fish and a turtle. Our room was clean and comfortable. During COVID, staying at a hotel has been a bit worrisome for me. The public atmosphere, sleeping in a room someone else had just slept in, etc... But our room at the Fireside was clean well and I felt like it was mine alone. The beds were comfortable, the climate controls worked well, the water got hot quickly, and there was a Keurig in the room! Before checking out we decided to have breakfast in the dining area near the lobby. A nice woman with short brown hair (I didn't catch her name) sat us and took our orders. She was very pleasant and personable. For breakfast, there were 5 or 6 plate options to choose from. Combos of the usual stuff you would find at a hotel buffet (eggs, waffles, oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash, etc...), different types of juices to choose from, and coffee of course. I elected for the biscuits and gravy and had a side of corned beef hash as well. It was very hearty, and good portions. More than I was expecting out of a hotel breakfast during COVID. The space still felt clean and social distancing was happening between the occupied tables. Overall I had a great experience here! I will stay here again when I'm back in the area.
Don't just the hotel just from its location!
We were en route to Stowe, VT and due to snow, we had to stop earlier than expected and had to find a last minute hotel. When we first drove past, I was not too sure about the Fireside Inn and Suites-- mainly because it was off the highway and hidden off a side road. This is why we don't judge a book by its cover! I'm so happy we decided to go in and check this place out. As soon as you walk in, there is a big fireplace in the lobby, and around the corner a cozy, cute restaurant area with a bar. We booked a room with a fireplace, which was absolutely perfect. We spent the snowstorm hanging out in our room, using the massage chair, enjoying the fireplace (which actually gave off a great amount of heat), and watching the snow from the window. We had appetizers in the restaurant-- the restaurant was nothing to write home about, but it definitely served its purpose. The next morning, we enjoyed the free breakfast buffet, which was much better than most hotel free breakfast options. I would highly recommend the Fireside Inn & Suites and definitely recommend a room with a fireplace! It was the perfect little getaway.
sleepless night
My daughter was in the hospital having her 1st baby. We live 45 minutes away but I wanted to be close to the hospital. I am disabled so I need a room for the handicap. They told me when I called the room was fine. Well the only thing was a bar in tub I told the staff member I was in a wheelchair. The whole hotel was filled with smoke due to someone not knowing how to light a fire. I have copd also. 2days of head level smoke & smell. As for the room I give it a grade d. The room looked like it wasn't cleaned. The rug was dirty. The towels were rough the sheets and blanket were also rough. The mattress was so bad I slept for about 3 hours. As per photos you can see the springs. I couldn't leave because I would loose my money I paid for the room. You can't complain because there is no website. I'm on a fixed income.
