I stayed in the Fletcher Wellness Resort with my daughter in a room viewing the Central Station after a bad experience in the Golden Tulip Leiden across the street. The room was cleaned thoroughly every day, leaving it smelling fresh .. the cleaning ladies on the 9th floor were very nice and committed to their work . Staff and food where excellent. We had a very pleasant stay and would definitely stay here again.
Bad Hotel! Great Restaurant

Logistics within Hotel is confusing and getting to and from room involved lifts and walking long hall ways! The building is shared by a rehabilitation centre, whole place smells like a hospital. Staff at reception are slow and ignorant…on a good day! I intend to complain officially about service. Room is modern but small and whole building is hot and claustrophobic. The restaurant service varied but the food and great food made up for it. Well done chef.
Great wellness but terrible service and hygiene

Had a wonderful birthday getaway in the different saunas, steambad and pool with my husband. We loved it. The staff at the reception was overloaded with work and they don’t seem very trained. There was even a girl on flipflops helping them out. They manage different desks for the wellness and the hotel what made the checkin process a 40 min adventure. At the restaurant, The what younger girl staff at the lounge bar were constantly talking with eachother instead of visiting customers. Took them 20 min to take our order and started working when the lounge filled in. At dinner they were even drinking coffee infront of us and ignoring us. To take our order. We imagine they were taking a break but they were so rude and arrogant with us. At breakfast next day there was a whole cucumber plate served with FUNGUS! We tokd one of the male staff who told women at the kitchen and they never went back to us and left the whole fungus plate there without even cleaning. This place really needs to teach hospitality to their staff
A 5 day visit to Leiden

The hotel has to be a little better explaining the hidden cost involved in staying. If you are thinking of using the hotel as a base and using your car don’t. The cost of parking is prohibitive to taking the car on day trips. Unlike most spa hotels we have used throughout the world to use the spa you have to hire robes, towels and flip flops! We did not use the restaurant- there are so many wonderful eating establishments so close. Our room was on floor 9. This particular floor is shared with a medical physio dept which is a little difficult getting your head round in a 4 star hotel!! The outside rooms of the floor face out but the middle is the medical centre and during the day the joint use corridors are used by hotel guests and patients ( some in wheel chairs, on crutches and using walking aids ) While we visited a number of these patients smoked outside the building at one of the entrances to the joint block. Our room was well designed with all conveniences. Excellent bed and shower room. The staff were pleasant and helpful. For a hotel trying to attract international travellers there is a complete lack of any information in any other language other than Dutch. The hotel is centrally placed next to the main city rail station.

I usually like to start with something positive, so let me mention the breakfast. There was a good choice, although replenishing could have been better. The bed was also very comfortable and the room spacious. Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the positives. The young lady on reception (Iris) was rather snooty and could do with a lesson in customer care. She made us feel very unwelcome and if I could have, I would have left there and then. We had a reservation for a double room and suit. Unfortunately, the suit was not ready on arrival. It should have been ready within 15 minutes, however, it took longer. I asked if we could check out a little later to compensate and this was granted. The manager offered a drink in the bar too. Much appreciated. There was no handsoap in both rooms and the phone was not working in the suit. Quality of the towels was not 4 star worthy. One of the pillows was so lumpy that I asked reception for a different pillow. A young lady brought a different pillow and hadsoap. The pillow was slightly better, but the pillowcase was marked and looked dirty. There are no pillow protectors on the pillows either. Some of the furniture was damaged. Ceiling pannels in the bathroom had suffered water damage. Guests can only swim, wearing bathing clothes, in the pool from 7 till 9.30 a.m. which meant that the pool was a little crowded. Young lady on reception at check-out was friendly. All in all, we didn't enjoy our stay and would choose a different hotel if in Leiden.
