Basic - sufficient as a pass through to/from airport

Reviewed 16 december, 2019

Understanding that even 'the best' hotel in Leticia is still going to be very basic we weren't expecting too much from the hotel. Saying that the rooms were fine - good beds, working aircon. However for the price compared to others around, no WiFi in the room (and even in reception I could not get it to work) and an awful breakfast really made this a below average stay even for basic accom. I would use it if you need a good rest after the amazon and want a good location. The breakfast was awful however considering the amount of fresh basic food that can be found in the town - stale cereal ( I tried three different types), stale crackers, stale bread.

Good - for Leticia

Reviewed 21 september, 2019

In a lot of places other than Leticia the Anaconda would be like a mid-upper range Holiday Inn. The pool was great relief from the heat. Room was ok with air conditioning. However, the dilapidated shower broke off the wall and I was forced to go without.

Good hotel and pleasant helpful staff

Reviewed 14 january, 2019

The location is good, we walked to restaurants, the Museo Etnografico, Santander Park. It was interesting to also walk down to the port. The room was large with a good bathroom. No elevator and we chose a back room on the third floor instead of the offered front room with balcony on the second floor -- seemed to be too much traffic noise. A staff member appeared and carried our luggage up the stairs. Nice large pool. We liked the included breakfast, small buffet but much more than the "continental breakfast" printed on our booking form. The good air conditioner was noisy, our shower water heater did not work (not too much of a hardship in the climate of the Amazon). The price and resort fee charged were exactly as on our Expedia booking. The front desk agent doubles as the tour office person; if you have a little Spanish, you might just as well have them book your tours. Otherwise there are English speakers at George of the Jungle, around the corner, and at SelvAventura, two blocks away.

Fine for stay in Leticia

Reviewed 7 january, 2019

One of the nicest hotels in Leticia, has a nice pool and a/c which are great. Rooms very bare bones, no hot water in my shower in 4 days. No safe in the room. No shower supplies, except large on the wall soap dispenser. Breakfast basic but fine. More a hikers hotel or high end hostel, except for where it is located as good as it gets. SErvice was good, front desk better than earlier reviews let on.

What a nightmare! Stay away!

Reviewed 22 may, 2018

First of all, the place had a bad juju vibe from the moment we walked in and when we went to check in the front desk staff was rude and looked like they didn’t want to deal with us and told me the price we had reserved under with the online agency wasn’t correct (booking.com) and they kept changing the price!! Unfortunatley we reserved it under the “pay at the hotel option” which has never been an issue with other hotels until now. They dont respect the price you reserved under they change the price to their hotel price. I even showed the printout and they didn’t believe me! First, I showed them the total amount for the three nights I would be paying is $250 USD and they said no that is total per night? They kept changing it to $100 then $115 per night and they argued they charged more than that a day. I had reserved the room online for $80 a night and he wanted to charge me over $100 even though I had written proof I had booked under a different price!I wanted to cancel and get out of the deal and the manager who was a nightmare from hell and was so rude and condescending came out and demanded I give him my credit card for him to charge the full amount of the stay or else he threatened to call booking.com to have them charge me full amount! So right there is a lie because if you cancel or a no show they can only charge you one night stay! When I didn’t agree he got mean! He wanted to charge me then the entire stay of hotel to cancel and kept upping the price and changing it because he didn’t like that I what I had to say! When I told him I wanted to cancel he went on the attack and started getting personal insulting us (my friend was Peruvian and I Mexican) and he got rude making rude comments about where we were from and brought up the travel agent name that was helping us book tours and said it was because of him we were canceling. I think maybe he brought his personal issues and beef with the tour guide who was helping us and out of jealousy decided he wanted to punish us and charge us more. This man was a complete unprofessional and bully! He called the Colombian police on us to scare us into paying and claims booking.com had charged me more per night when I had the email to prove the amount I would be paying!! it was drama!I was escorted by the Colombian police to the ATM so I can pay this manager the money he wanted to get out of this problem. The hotel manager treated me and my friend very badly and I dont think I had been treated that bad in any hotel I ever stayed at and I have stayed at many all over the world. You can tell even his own staff didnt like him they just were too afraid to say. We were two women traveling alone and I think he thought he can intimidate and bully us with the police !! The police arrived and sided with the manager of course so please people be careful if your ever in this situation call the Tourism police I was told not the regular police. We had to pay a full night stay at THEIR price not bookings.com (price I got it for) to get out of the deal and we left to a better hotel in the area. Every night after that while we were in Leticia we passed by the hotel and noticed police there. So to me that didnt seem right and if I were you I would find a better hotel this hotel is old, looks like from the 1970s and not even worth the price this manager claims they charge a night. So please anytime you travel to Colombia bring written proof you paid and also always pre pay your stay because what I have noticed is these people think tourist are stupid and like to change the price on you and just have police intimidating you to pay. This manager didnt care about the guests all he cares about is money so be careful!! There are better hotels and less pricey than this hotel in the area.
