We spent 5 nights at the Hotel Engel and were tremendously impressed. The hotel is steps away from the heart of the City and outdoor cafes where you can watch the world walk by. The rooms at the hotel are quite comfortable. Best of all is the service. Beatreaz at the front desk is outstanding. Very friendly and goes the extra step for you. The only downside to the hotel is if you're a light sleeper, you may hear the bells from the City. It's likely you'll hear them from any hotel near city center.

Next to the nice central location I would like to mention the friendly and professional cleaning service of the rooms -always an important item on my travels. I would recommend this hotel. I enjoyed my stay here.

Recently been working and staying at the hotel. Simple room, very clean and really quiet. Hotel staff are very helpful and friendly- they did everything to accommodate our requests in the conference area. Food in restaurant good and staff also introduced a couple of local wine recommendations which were very nice.

Stayed at this hotel for an international cat show in Liestal. Hotel was nice, with good clean rooms which were spacious. Parking in the basement was cheap (according to Norwegian standards, but expensive for Germans according to someone we met). Easy access to garage and hotel from the garage. Beds were nice, bathrooms too. Nice service from the personnel. Can recommend to stay here if you happen to visit Liestal... and, not to forget, sweet little town to visit!

We had a spacious, quiet room, well equipped and with comfortable beds. All very cleen! The bathroom is big enough and has all you need. It was a friendly and informative welcome to the hotel. The coffee and juices in the morning were nice - we unfortunately had no time for breakfast.
