A Perfect Location

It came as some surprise to discover that it had been 15 years since we'd last visited Lille and as far as I remember, we'd only stayed there overnight on one occasion. So for this trip we decided against the Hôtel Lille Europe that we'd used previously, and opted instead for a "proper" French hotel - in the case the Hotel Brueghel. A short and easy walk from the Eurostar Station into the centre of Lille, the Hotel Brueghel is easy to find in the shadow of the large and imposing Saint-Maurice Church. It's very handily located for shopping as well as Lille's numerous excellent bars and restaurants. The room we stayed in was on the small side, but comfortable and functional - how much time do you need to spend in a hotel while on a short break anyway? The staff were both friendly and helpful which added to the enjoyment of our short stay. Would we chose to stay there again? Yes!
Small, but extremely cosy and spectacularly situated.

Yes, the room was small - but I had booked a "small bedroom." It was cosy, clean, and the bed + pillows were some of the most comfortable I have ever experienced in a hotel. The wi-fi worked (although it was a pain having to log in every time) and the reception staff were amiable. About a 10 minute walk from the Eurostar, and less than 5 minutes from the Grand Place. The location was perfect.
Nice well located hotel (watch out for mosquitoes)

This is a nice hotel, very centrally located in the Old Town and an easy walk to the Eurostar station. Our room was fine, no view as it was in an internal courtyard, the bedroom itself was not huge, but was fine. The shower was a wet room arrangement, and there was a separate toilet. One thing that I should mention, I was bitten half to death by mosquitoes at the end of October, I can only guess that as it is an internal corner room that the mossies could continue to breed outside. I would ensure you get a couple of plug in mosquito killers from reception before you go out, and close the windows. I counted around 20 bites on me and my partner in the morning. I’m not saying it’s the hotels fault, but it happened and I should mention it. I was in room 103.
Difficult if you have a car

GPS said we were at the hotel, but we couldn't find it since it's not on a actual street. Construction was going on nearby where the concierge said the garage was located. Created a ton of chaos since parking spots are difficult to come by so it was impossible to unload easily. Wound up checking in hours after we wanted to. Dampened our impression of this charming city.
Little hotel offers great convenience

The best thing of this hotel is its location. It’s at the very center of the city which offers you great convenience accessing to the train station and various food options. The hotel room is small but serves the purpose for a short stay. There are not much amenities in the room and they are a bit old (towels and hair dryer is available though), so be prepared to bring all you need.
