Stunning breakfast views
Limone was not our favourite town on our journey around the Italian lakes. It’s a little too cramped between the imposing mountains and lake. But Hotel Montebaldo was lovely. Sea facing room with balcony helped. Also excellent were the breakfasts with a view over the lake. We ate here one evening as well and had one of our best meals of a 14 night trip.
Perfect, perfect, perfect,
This small but perfectly formed hotel was just beautiful. The rooms were spacious and the breakfast, which is included in the price is absolutely delicious. Breakfast on the balcony as the sun rises over Monte Baldo across the lake. The restaurant below served delicious food and there’s a discount of 10% if your a hotel guest. If there was one thing that could have improved our stay it would have been to have a view. But small price to pay for a reasonably price lovely hotel.
Fantastic Stay
Wonderful hotel situated, for us, in the most wonderful part of Limone. Our views from our balcony were superb. The food, both in the hotel restaurant and downstairs restaurant was fantastic wholesome food and very reasonably priced. They had a good selection of wines to compliment the food too. My only gripe, I’d have liked to have had a few more Italian beers on offer. The staff were great too; very attentive and engaging. If you are lucky, one of the owners may even serenade you to a rendition of Tight Fits “The Lion Sleeps Tonight!!!!!!” We loved Limone and intend on returning again. For us, there will be only one place we consider staying and that’s the Monte Baldo. Perfetto!
Excellent option
Hotel Monte Baldo is the prettiest hotel in Limone. Everyone takes photos of it! We got an upgrade (which was wonderful) to a terrace room and I do recommend that if your budget allows for a balcony or terrace then do it. There are few places to sit out and about in Limone, so having your own space is a great bonus. The terrace was fantastic. Rooms are not grand, but neat, tidy, clean and comfy. Bathroom is good. My only gripes were the staff in the first floor restaurant ("Italian charm" seems to have deserted some of them .. for example. Me: Can we have that table? Waiter: No, followed by a glare. He volunteered nothing more, just glared! Tables on the balcony are lovely, but there are only three so book well in advance and it can get hot in the sun. Food was lovely. Big GF range. 10% discount for hotel guests. And my other gripe was the instructions for parking. Here is what they should be: on no account set your GPS for the hotel. There are no cars in Limone and you will find it sending you down narrow stone lined lanes that are not at all suitable for cars. I repeat ON NO ACCOUNT SET YOUR GPS FOR THE HOTEL. You can not get anywhere near the hotel in your car. Instead that half garbled info you got in an email about an address on Marconi Piazza? That is where you need to go. When you get there hover about and have someone run over to the green wooden kiosk with glass windows all around it. You can't miss it but if you are having problems locating it (Tuesday is market day and it can be a bit swamped by the market) stand looking at the underground parking and it's to your right. You give your name and hotel name to the person in the kiosk and are given a pass to get into the underground parking (in the mountain side). Do not go into the paid parking until you get the pass. You will be followed by a young man driving a golf cart. When you have parked he will unload your luggage onto the cart, you jump on too, and he takes you to your hotel. All free. Keep the parking pass as that gets you out of the car park (and back in again if you are taking day trips). You then need to drop the pass back to the green kiosk when you leave. It's simple when you know how! The email may be better in other languages, but in English it's lacking key details. Oh and the terrace is side by side with the next room's terrace. When we were there the people on that other terrace had loud voices when just chatting and he listened to his phone messages on speaker phone with high volume and listened to news videos on high volume. So it wasn't always peaceful! Would still recommend the terrace room though.
