We arrived USA after 3 years in Germany
Traveling from Germany to Baltimore 8+ hour flight. Traveling with a 4, 5 and 14 year old on PCS orders. We arrived at 10:30pm and called the hotel to let them know that we would be checking in late, the front office/operator told me not to call until I had my luggage and ready to be picked up. At 12:00 we finally had all of our luggage. I called the hotel again to let him know that we were ready, he told me to wait outside door 15. We go outside and wait. After 20-30 minutes of making sure we were visible to all of the shuttles that passed we did not see ours. This man comes up to me and asks if I’m (last name) I said yes then he starts getting angry and starts yelling at me in front of everyone, for not being in the right pick up location. He then tells me that he did not have any more time to take us to the hotel and he walked away leaving us there. I am so disappointed because me and the kids were so excited to be in the states after 3 years and this happened. We were all exhausted and hungry and all we wanted was to be in our room. He was so mean and super rude in person and over the phone. I just hope that he understands that none of this was easy for us and his bad customer service and bad attitude made this whole situation worst.
Spotlights?!
2 of the lamps in the room didn’t work. The biggest negative was that we had a spotlight right outside our window. And, I’ve never stayed in a hotel that had old blinds and no black out drapes. It was like daytime in our room! Ridiculous
Needs a ReFresh!
Nice lobby, great breakfast, convenient shuttle to BWI. Rooms clean, bathroom ok (don’t look in corners!). Beds are obviously old, VERY firm and need to be replaced. Little things point to an owner who is not willing to keep up with the competition.
New Kid on the Block Is Going Places
Ben and Mrs Too got in touch with the front desk at this Wingate motel while planning a getaway to Jamaica. Yes, indeed, they run a 24 hour shuttle to and from BWI Marshall airport. Yes, indeed, they would keep an eye on our car for a week, Yes, indeed, they served breakfast early enough to get us to the airport by seven AM. I wonder if they even know how to spell NO. The motel is easy to find, located right on what is called the “hotel loop”. At the time we checked in, they didn’t have their Wingate sign, but that was not really a problem, as the address was clearly visible. (Actually, when we returned from Jamaica, the sign was resting on the lawn awaiting the installers.) The hotel has operated under at least three franchises, and the present operators, busily managing upgrades and straightening out glitches, are doing a great job. The room was ideal, breakfast was well above average, the staff, David in particular, are dedicated and purposeful. To illustrate their attitude, I have a story to tell. The night we checked in, I ducked out through a side door for a goodnight cigarette. Just as the door closed behind me, I saw a sign saying the door would not open without a room key. I walked around to the desk, and suggested to David how nice it would be to put a similar notice on the inside of the door. When I went out the next day for a good morning cigarette, the sign was there! The gas log fireplace in the lobby is a great touch. They will do very well and they deserve to. The Toos certainly will be there upon any occasion involving that airport.
Clean, convenient, good breakfast, needs maintenance badly
Room was clean, staff very nice, breakfast included and very good, hot and stocked, bed was very comfortable, the bad was that some of the lights and electrical outlets did not work making it difficult to see and charge items. In room 419 the air conditioner was so loud you could not even sleep, which made he whole stay unacceptible....for the money, it would have been ok if the AC wasnt so loud.....
