Best Return to Travel Trip!

Reviewed 26 november, 2021

After two decades of business travel, COVID and the lockdowns put a complete pause on all that. My first trip since the lockdown was to Lisbon for the LHW Annual Convention, where I stayed at the Tivoli. What a great property (rooms, rest and bars) and amazing staff! Mr. Pablo González was fantastic, a true hospitality professional. Highly recommend the Tivoli if you're in Lisbon!

5 star hotel with 1-star service

Reviewed 21 november, 2021

The one-star is specifically for the breakfast service. The buffet was amazing. Everything else in Liberdade was not. The rooms were relatively small for the value, and the appliances were subpar. I was using the hair dryer and it kept turning off so I called the front desk. Instead of bringing me a working dryer, they told me to hold on to the cold button so it would keep running. I would expect a 5 star hotel to provide a working blow dryer so I didn't have to dry my hair with cold air. Even worse, our safe had a low battery issue and would not let us open to get our passports. We had to call twice to have an attendant come up to our room to open the safe with a master key. This was especially stressful as we were trying to catch a train to Porto. We barely made it on to the train. Amex Platinum travelers beware! I booked this hotel with a platinum card expecting the promotions associated with the Fine Hotel and Resorts program. My husband and I had to argue with the staff, including the attending manager, to receive SOME of benefits. We never were able to use the $100 hotel credit because the staff failed to properly follow up with American Express to confirm the benefits. This was after the atrending manager promised us she would followup during our checkin. It was only on our last night that I called Amex to find out if we would get late check out that they confirmed they never received a call from the hotel. After the rep talked with the front desk, the hotel finally gave us the $100 credit. But given how late this was in our stay, we weren't able to use it. The situation was made worse because the staff provided few solutions and kept asking us how they could fix the situation instead of figuring something out for us. Anytime we suggested something, there would be some kind of issue so we ultimately got nothing. The attending manager who promised to follow up with AMEX also didn't offer an apology and instead avoided us while we were speaking to the front desk. The excuse? The hotel manager noted the reason was due to a conference held at the hotel. It did not feel great to hear that our treatment was deprioritized. Especially given the price we paid for our stay, and the expectations for such a reputable hotel. We will not be staying here again, nor recommend anybody do so. Spend your money elsewhere. Maybe stop by for the breakfast if you're in the area.

Tivoli - Lobby Bar

Reviewed 18 november, 2021

Although we didn't stay at the Tivoli (unfortunately), we visited their Lobby Bar several times during our visit to Lisbon since our hotel didn't have a bar. Very comfortable and elegant location for a cocktail and lunch. Food and drinks were excellent. Plus the service from Samuel was exceptional and friendly. Stop in and say hello!!!

Amazing team!

Reviewed 17 november, 2021

This hotel is absolutely fantastic. The smiley door lady who greets you when you arrive, pedro from the breakfast room who cannot do enough for you and a huge special mention to the bar staff Bruno, irina, and Andre who are so warm and engaging we love speaking to them all everyday when we go to visit, thier local knowledge o the city and knowledge on the food ans beverage is just fantastic. If I missed anyone’s name on the bar I apologise but everyone on shift from the day we checked in Sunday has just been amazing! I’m not sure why this hotel gets bad reviews, each to thier own. From my side tne hotel team are very warm and engaging and they should have a very proud General Manager. Sarah xx

Bad memories

Reviewed 3 november, 2021

I want to start with the positive. When you arrive at the hotel you are received incredibly well. People help with the bag and you get a lot of info at the reception about everything that is in the hotel. That's about where the good service ends. Then it went downhill fast. The room has no sound insulation at all and you can hear both neighbors and people outside. So if you are easy to wake up, you will wake up. It can certainly be different from room to room. I had plans to celebrate my birthday at the hotel. My plan was to order some sparkling wine for the room but I got info that it would be included because Its my birthday. I thought this sounded great so I did not order anything. Once my birthday was over, I got nothing. Not even a congratulatory card. I went down to the reception in the evening and asked why I had not received anything. (Very embarrassing) I got info that they had forgotten. But that I could get it the next day instead. That sounded good. Too good. Because I got nothing then either. At 20:00 I went down and asked again. (Even more embarrassing) Then I got information from an unpleasant woman that the day was not over yet and that they were on their way. 21.00 they came up with a cake. No sparkling wine. We had also booked a table at their restaurant. But our booking was not in their system. Strange because I booked a table through the reception. Now it worked out anyway and the restaurant staff was very nice. But how much control do you really have at the hotel? I am so disappointed in this hotel and if you want a tip from me then it is to never celebrate your birthday in this hotel. Do not let them ruin your evening just as they did with mine.
