Almost perfect

We selected this hotel because we only had two days in Lisbon and wanted to walk everywhere, avoiding public transportation or parking. It totally served its purpose. Yes, the rooms are a little run down and the entire building could use some remodels but none of these ruined the experience for us. We did not use the kitchen but it was well stocked with plenty of dishware as well as coffee maker, dishwasher and microwave. The hotel does not have a parking garage but public parking is available for 23 EUROS/ day. The location is unbeatable, the pool is decent but the rooftop terrace is small, the staff was professional and efficient. Because we visited during a time when Portugal is still enforcing COVID-19 mitigation measures and mandatory mask use, we noticed that everyone complied and there were hand sanitizers available. Also, plenty of signage informing guests of the rules to follow. We always felt safe. We were asked to provide COVID-19 vaccination cards, which we were not told we needed but luckily had. I would certainly recommend this hotel for those we want to be near downtown. Everything one might need is within walking distance and hotel staff can assist with pretty much anything else.

Had a great experience

Went on a citytrip to Lissabon for 4 days. Very happy that we chose this hotel. It’s in the middle of the centre and in front of the hotel is the entrance of a metro station. The rooms are very clean and nice-looking. The staff is very kind and ready to help when you need it. Swimmingpool is very clean to and while swimming you’ve got a great view above the city. Receptionstaff is always willing to help and answer your questions. Would definetely go back to Vip Eden Executive Aparthotel!

Not up to standard

Late review from May 2019. I wanted to really like this hotel, unfortunately the service from the reception staff really let it down. I stayed twice in two weeks, and both times I found check in and out very abrupt. The staff don't acknowledge you when you walk in or out of the hotel either, the sit behind the counter and can't be seen, nor do they look up. On check out I was told I needed to still pay the city tax as I had only paid for 1 night instead of 4. I had already paid the 4 nights at check in. They tried to push the point and asked for proof that I paid. I was so insulted, and refused to pay again. I also pointed out that the first time I stayed the receipt for the city tax was given on check out. Their staff really need better training. Maybe they should check that their staff aren't pocketing the money. Hotel facade is undergoing a revamp - hopefully they start the inside soon as the rooms are very old and tired. Very expensive for what you get. Postive: the location is amazing, roof top terrace is nice, and the bed sheets really soft! The house keeping staff also do a good job.

Disappointed

What a dump!!! First thing you notice is the smell when you are about to get in the room, apart from the fact that it seems the building suspiciously going through some renovations for more than a year now, and they don’t advise prior the booking, so all windows are covered. Awful, outdated, holes in the walls, dirty stained carpets, the wardrobe had broken and wobble shelves. The main bed is not even a proper bed, not to talk about the adjacent room’s bed...they are cheating people with their website photos, getting away with these prices. We couldn’t sleep properly because of the horrible smell, mixture of sewage with musty mouldy smell. We could hear every step and yawn from neighbouring rooms. The cutler from the kitchen was disgusting, outdated appliances, it seemed something from a 80s horror movie. The only good things where the location and how helpful and polite the night staff member was. What a disappointment, we’ve actually considered looking for another hotel, but it was short notice and we had already paid so much for our room. It almost ruined our holidays as everyday the thought of coming back to the hotel room was stomach-churning.

Staff: They were courteous and friendly. Helped us find anything we were looking for, including restaurants and shopping. Nuno at the Terrace Bar on the top floor was a very friendly young man. And he made me a pizza. Location: Amazing location. Close to many things, including the Castelo Jorge. The Metro station is literally below the front entrance. Perfect place to stay for tourists. Room: Pretty outdated, but cute. I didn't feel that it was dirty, but the bathroom had a smell. There is a tiny, fully equipped kitchen, which I really liked. Didn't come here to spend my time in the room, but unfortunately it became the case due to some global pandemic going on. That said, I've spent time in much worse rooms. Parking: there is an underground garage to park in; it is part of the whole area, not associated with the hotel and costs 24 Euros per day. However, next time I am in Lisbon, I'm ditching the car. Too much hassle; it's easy to get around using public transit or your feet.
