3 day stay in centre of city
Stayed for 3 nights. Hotel refurbished in the last 2 years. All rooms have bathrooms on suite. Towels refreshed daily and extras provided for the traveller. Nice reception area and staff very friendly and helpful. Good cocktail bar in reception area with two hours of "Happy hour" each evening. Ate in the hotel first night, good quality meal cooked fresh and breakfast had an excellent choice although the sausages were not to our taste. Very close to main road and hop on hop off yellow bus routes. 3 days use for 95 euros for two persons sold by Hotel. Very large city to explore particularly the Tagus river area and the main squares in the centre. Recommend also use of the old Trams which are part of the yellow bus route.
Lovely room
I spent there a relaxing time this weekend, beautiful room (607) with great views. Spacious room and wonderful bath. Staff friendly, only thing to improve is mattress quality - doesnt correspond to a 4* hotel.
not a 4 star hotel..
We always travel at 4 hotels, so I was expecting what other 4 star hotels are offering. At this one we were quite disappointed. The first impression is already quite bad. You enter the hotel, maybe with your 20kg baggage and the first thing you see are stairs going down to the reception, without a ramp or an elevator. Imagine being on a long flight very early on the morning, plus coming by the underground, which is quite nice in Lisbon because it goes directly to the airport. Additionally the underground drops you off at the desired location, but you have like 10 exits, half of them without an elevator too, and you arrive somewhere far away from the hotel, even thought you went to the right underground station. The rooms are nice at the first glimpse, but these impressions change soon. Our telephone didn't work at all, the safe was damaged and not close-able, the working desk extremely small, the water temperature of the shower constantly changes and additionally runs out of the bathtub so that you encounter a small lake after showering, regardless of how careful you are etc. etc... The worst part are the walls and the overall architecture of the building. The rooms are somehow in a circle, the walls are so thin, you can literally hear everything happening outside your room (since there is no carpet on the floor to catch the noise), or at your neighbour's room. It's an unacceptable low comfort for a 4 star hotel, we couldn't rest at all, since every door closed on your floor wakes you up because it's so incredible loud, you have to be there to really believe this (the doors are also damaged which makes it difficult to close them which may explain the little earthquake you encounter when someone closes one). Also the reservation process was very unintuitive, not state of the art, the website very slow and also buggy. The wireless connection at the hotel also not state of the art (around 1-3Mbit/s in 2020....). What was positive about the hotel: it was acceptable clean, the breakfast was OK, the bed was pretty small but comfortable, the staff at the reception and the kitchen very friendly and the location is good. Even though we tried to not let the mentioned things disturb our stay in Lisbon, it was extremely uncomfortable hearing so many noises from the neighbour rooms and the hallway. We will not stay here again.
It is an absolute miracle to me...
... hotel this hotel can achieve 4 Stars?!? First of all let me be fair and say that if I came for a Lisbon visit or a stay-only to this hotel, I’d give 3 of 5 stars rating. We came here for a conference and used the conference area of the hotel. Here is my overall experience that makes me absolutely never want to come back: Checkin was easy and I got the conference room key upon arrival to prepare the room (I’m the facilitator). Equipment: a/v equipment isn’t installed in the room so a manual screen and projector/ speakers were available. Not setup and ready, but in boxes in a corner. Flip chart stands were from the last century and didn’t properly stand due to the slippery tile floor (few of them crashed). Writing on them wasn’t great because due to their age they were shaky. The tiles floor also makes the room very noisy and loud when talking. Service: not a single day did anyone from the hotel come to open the room for us. Every time I had to run down to reception to get the key. I was told the person responsible for the conference rooms starts her workday at 9am (???). She never came to even say Hello at any time. Coffee and snacks were provided and thankfully there was fruit - the rest was sweet danish and some plastic-looking cheap bread sandwiches what tasted disgusting. Nobody ate them and the hotel didn’t seem to care that the full tray wasn’t touched each day. Coffee for 20 people came out of ONE capsule machine (hello environment/plastic/waste? Have you ever heard of that???) Lunch was in the basement with no windows! Food was OK, but on the buffet no sign as what you’re eating (vegetarians?) The smoking area was next to the conference room so there was a constant really strong smell of smoke in and around the room, especially in the coffee area. There was a constant shortage of water; upon asking they added a few bottles but not enough - I just stopped asking at some point. And from day 2 onwards they never even bothered to freshen up the water, let alone remove used dishes. It is absolutely clear that the hotel staff never received any form of hospitality training. And the best for last (and this is exactly as it happened): when I came to the front desk one day at 6am to get the key to the room, the receptionist (male) came out of the back with his pants open (button and zipper) to hand me the key!!!! I will absolutely never ever ever stay at this place again for any reason and make sure none of my business colleagues will. Am absolutely horrible experience. And please don’t even apologise in a response.
Rude staff and low service
We wanted to end an adventurous trip to the Azores with a few nights in Lisbon in a nicer hotel. We mistakenly thought that this was it. From our arrival the staff treated us quite poorly. Granted we had rucksacks, but we were paying costumers and the staff don't know who you are and should treat everyone the same (NB in my other life I am a doctor so can pull in a pay-cheque). The bar-tender was friendly and gave us a drink just at closing but other than that it was pretty bad. No toilet paper replacement in the room. No tea or coffee replacement. No towels replaced. When we mentioned this to the desk they managed a weak apology but didn't seem to care. Really disappointed.
